Yeah, I need to change the intro...

Hey folks,

Like many of you, I'm just not feeling the current show intro. I honestly want to totally change it up and make different music as well, but that's just one more thing I don't have time to do so I'm not sure.

But at a minimum, I think we need an emergency substitution of quotes.

Give me your most inspirational clips. I think we all need to hear things that reinforce why we need to stay in the fight. I think we need things that give us hope and energy.

So, short notice, but if you all have any suggestions I could use them! Thanks.

Understood. They guy himself was problematic to say the least, but he produced a lot of quotes that are inspirational.

Love the new intro!

This. As much of this speech as possible really. “There’s absolutely no evidence that we’re the greatest country in the world” https://youtu.be/ML3qYHWRIZk

https://youtu.be/k6C8SX0mWP0?t=27 Sam’s speech about the good still worth fighting for.

It's been used before but the Will Ferrell "I feel like I'm taking crazy pills!" seems appropriate

Dr Cog

please, not churchill.

Something about the tempo has always felt off, probably the outro more than the intro. It feels uneven or inconsistent in a way I can't really explain.

Chris Conley

Ok, what's so bad about Coldplay? I never understood the heat!

Maria Kladaki

I don't think a lot of quotes in the new intro should be about how there is still good in the world or in humans or whatever because that almost lands as toxic positivity or even delusional right now, given the overwhelming evidence to the contrary. But maybe messages more along the lines of Solnit's Hope in the Dark or Butler's Parable of the Sower, recognizing that yes, everything is in fact that irredeemably shitty, bleak, awful, horrifying, despair-inducing (and, to be clear, was already the case for many long before now and would have also been so under Harris, eg in Gaza) -- but that despite that, or maybe precisely because of that, we must hope and fight anyway.

Patreonymous

And for Good Place, too many gems, but maybe either 1:00 ("Earth is a MESS, y'all. Woof") or 4:22: "The system's broken, you guys proved it. I just want to reboot the whole thing and go back to my chambers." https://youtu.be/iRYwkDoxIxg?

I'm a big fan of the OA music, it shreds. But much like the art I'm sure you can do something that is great and new

I don't have the time to find it right now but there's an early Leverage episode with "the world doesn't work that way" - "then change the world" right at the end. s1e2 the homecoming job I believe, just an idea in case someone's so inclined to track that down

The current intro music is a mini-celebration that Thomas is back in charge of the podcast. I feel happy every time.

Check out this speech from the show "Andor" -- which, by the way, just became required viewing for every non-MAGA out there, in my opinion. --------------- "There will be times when the struggle seems impossible. I know this already. Alone, unsure, dwarfed by the scale of the enemy. "Remember this: Freedom is a pure idea. It occurs spontaneously and without instruction. Random acts of insurrection are occurring constantly throughout the galaxy. There are whole armies, battalions that have no idea that they’ve already enlisted in the cause. "Remember that the frontier of the Rebellion is everywhere. And even the smallest act of insurrection pushes our lines forward. "And remember this: the Imperial need for control is so desperate because it is so unnatural. Tyranny requires constant effort. It breaks, it leaks. Authority is brittle. Oppression is the mask of fear. "Remember that. And know this, the day will come when all these skirmishes and battles, these moments of defiance will have flooded the banks of the Empires’s authority and then there will be one too many. One single thing will break the siege. "Remember this: "Try." -------------------------------------- https://youtu.be/-asb8zTiuZ4

I have always loved the intro music! One vote for not changing it!

Hypercube

YES! Thank you, I've been wanting a new intro honestly since the first day this one came out and have been fast-forwarding to skip it every episode, even though I love the instrumentals. I don't get amusement out of bad powerful people being bad or incompetent, just depressed at their existence, and try not to normalize them and their voices in my mental space more than necessary. Apologies, I can't think of any immediate quotes but I think it would be amazing and in the desired spirit to have something from Judge Gen (Maya Rudolph) in The Good Place, and/or Leslie Knope (Amy Poehler) from Parks and Rec.
