That Time Trump's Lawyer Melted Down While Cross Examining Michael Cohen

Calling an audible here for reasons explained in the intro!

Instead of T3BE this week, here is the very best day of Eli Bosnick playing Michael Cohen for Gavel Gavel. This was the infamous day of the Trump Trial when Todd Blanche start cross examination in the stupidest, weirdest way imaginable. Enjoy!

Who's to say it isn't? 🤔

Sir do you recall writing in your diary that when you call Trump Boss you think in your head “babe”?? 🤔

Austin Enverba

Super friendly audio note. the reverb decay is too slow. Makes it sound like the courtroom is empty and adjacent to an indoor basketball court.

Liz laughs like Jimmy Carr! So awesome ❤️

Oh! Well that makes it even better. Thanks for clearing it up ^^

Great job, all!! I watched the trial when it happened and, like favorite episodes of Perry Mason, I enjoy the repetition of telling moments, so Gavel, Gavel plus OA are fine with me. Next one is actually the most hilarious day :)

what Lydia said. You did not pay for this twice! Though, Patreon is fucking stupid and tries to make it look like you did. This is a "Patron only" post, but it's a free post. Patreon decides to show that as "Paid for by members." I have no idea why they would insist on doing that.

Opening Arguments

This is uncharged! OA puts out about 14 episodes a month, and charges for 9.

I admit as a gavelpod patron it feels a little iffy having to pay for the same episode twice, but all in all this is quality content so hey, well worth the money even if I don’t always get fully new content

I normally lower my expectations when Eli comes on a show, but he absolutely crushes this.

Our friend, Martin Lehman!

who's playing the part of blanche? (mea culpa, not a gavelpod patron otherwise I'd already know.)

lauren

I heard Eli’s line acting before but this second time reminded me that I’ve never really heard Eli attempt to act without breaking character. He’s good at this character and it’s not comedic It probably helps that Eli/Cohen and my Jersey Jewish Uncle all sound similar.

Casey is clearly a much better lawyer with an efficient strategy of get-what-you-need-and-move-on. Blanche's entire strategy is based on a plan to lure his witnesses into backing down or picking dumb fights w him, and this is a demonstration of how spectacularly that strategy fails when the witnesses don't react the way you hope.

My take on Blanche is that he's the kind of gutless big talker who backpedals when confronted, and projects that everyone else is the same. When he asked Cohen or Daniels about the unkind things they said about him or Trump, he 100% assumed they would backpedal and make excuses like he would do, and he'd be able to pounce on that. He was completely unprepared for them all to shrug and say, "Yeah-- that's what i said."
