When is the next GavelGavel?

Any word on when we can expect the AMA about the “whole thing”? After asking my own questions and reading others’ I am curious to hear your answers Thomas.

Colbin Erdahl

The show has discussed congressional rules in the past, I'd love to have them discuss this.

Michael Rops

I had not heard about this. Comments about an ongoing trial and indictments stricken from the record for being “insulting” to a candidate. Not sure if striking the comments is a legal matter, but it is insulting to me.

Colbin Erdahl

... a hot dog, a hamburger, and a cheese & bacon croissant walked into a bar ... ('twas a milk bar, of course)

I am a philosophical hole

Anyone else follow PGA here? Let's hear about Scottie Scheffler's arrest and the contentious haraignment yelling match between his lawyer and the prosecutor.

What are you looking at dicknose

I just saw this story, it might be good for a future OA: https://www.techdirt.com/2024/05/22/emory-univesity-suspends-students-over-ai-study-tool-the-school-gave-them-10k-to-build-and-promoted/

Any chance of a touch on the ongoing Karen Read trial? I'm no lawyer but this whole thing stinks

Updates on recourse for all the corrupt attorneys that the American Bar Association should be revoking their licenses whomst 🤭 are testifying in these trials …where evidence has come out at their obvious corruption (NYC case, False Electors various states)… if we can’t impeach the corrupt justices, or their “Sponsors”, we could at least put a dent in their machine by getting accountability for all these corrupt attorneys (& lobbyists, judges, etc but 🐘=one bite at a time). ABA & State Bar Assoc doing ANYTHING? How can WE the ppl help?

GenXNerd_Eli.is.Keats_AnnaFrogs_SmithVictory

Colbert covered it in monologue this week. Outrageous.

GenXNerd_Eli.is.Keats_AnnaFrogs_SmithVictory

There's been a rumour flying around on twitter that Blinken threatened a meeting of Arab American leaders with world starvation as a law from the 90's apparently would force the US to withdraw UN funding if a Palestinian state featuring the PLO were formed. Not so interested in the threat (unless there's a credible source?) more interested in if the law actually exists and says what people say it says because that seems...strange.

Make Orwell Fiction Again

I just ordered a large Italian-style, open-face sandwich with pepperoni and cheese.

G. T. Blackwell

That could have been (and may still be) a 10+ parter

Matt Cameron

Our charming Ga former gov Roy Barnes did a settlement. I just liked hearing his testimony in the fani Willis stuff

Do we still send out sternly worded crunch wraps?

That's probably ripe for coverage on Gavel Gavel.

How is trump media on the stock market when it is losing so much money? What sort of fraud is going on there?

oh good what luck

Question #1: Of all of the AI lawsuits why are none of them claiming tortious interference? I feel like all of my Opening Arguments training said that would be the easiest claim to prove. Question #2: Can you review the legal status of claims made by the Boeing whistleblowers prior to their deaths? How admissible is it? How does it relate the heresay rules?

Drew Vogel

I don’t know how interesting this is to anyone else but there’s a pretty wild story out in Louisiana involving the St Tammany Parish library board and a parish councilman who brought a loaded gun into a public meeting

Matt McLain

How about this? https://www.forbes.com/sites/saradorn/2024/05/22/heres-the-house-speech-criticizing-trump-that-was-stricken-from-the-congressional-record/

Any updates on the Menendez trial. Trump has been dominating everything, but a sitting Senator on trial (who has somehow dodged a bribery conviction in the past) deserves plenty of attention.

Nick Pod

There was a judge in Indiana that ruled a taco is a sandwich. It seems like one of those weird language things and I would love to know what. My husband is enraged by the decision, but I just want to know what terribile language lead to it.

Wishing every Clarence Thomas a very God rest his soul

Ologies did a good cast recently on genocide, the definition of it, etc. might we worth giving “genocide” writ large the OA deep dive treatment, but maybe not a RRF topic. I 2nded the ICC recommendation topic.

Fuzzy Llama

Given how long the Trump jurors will be off this weekend, it seems likely that the mischief odds go up. What happens if multiple jurors are exposed to news or, worse, pressure?

Kathryn Koldehoff

2nded

Fuzzy Llama

Oh, Thomas, you need to update the about page, it still says releases are M-W-F

127dot0dot0dot1

Rashada v Napier and Florida. Kinda surprised it took this long for an NIL lawsuit but this is going to happen over and over and over again yeah?

Cameron Kushwara

I would like to see something on the ICC decision, but that would probably need some sort of international law/war crimes expert... I don't suppose Jack Smith is free? :P

127dot0dot0dot1

The news about Graceland seems mildly interesting

Audrey Arnett

Apparently a judge issued a ruling yesterday encouraging SCOTUS to repeal qualified immunity. They won’t because they’re garbage monsters, but I’d love to hear about the topic. Here’s some info I found: https://x.com/juddlegum/status/1793261647731019986?s=46&t=6La8cVoyS_z81uJv7ux67g
