yeah it would require amending the Constitution (or calling an Article V convention) - we had Lessig on to discuss that possibility like 2 years ago

2022-03-15 15:41:09 +0000 UTCThis is exactly what I'm wondering about. I know there have been calls to scrap the electoral college in the past. I guess it's not plausible, because wouldn't that require a supermajority in both houses or something?

2022-03-12 12:13:22 +0000 UTCIs it just me, or did Professor Lessig's various One Weird Trick(s) for using the electoral system to steal elections not further suggest what a terrible, potentially dangerous, idea the electoral college is? I've no doubt there's been discussion of the benefits of the EC somewhere in the back catalog that I haven't reached yet, but after today's episode, it seems like any potential benefits of the EC are outweighed by how easily it can be manipulated to put a monster into office.
