"There are rumors of a spellcaster... a timekeeper among the woods who keeps the souls of the ones who gets near. It was not permanent, but they could disappear for hours, up to even days at a time. Maybe it's all up to their preference of who it was, maybe they factor in their lives?
These people remain untouched afterward, but we don't even know what happens in between, no matter how much we try. Not a single memory they could remember either, just finding themselves from where they were. All we could hope that they won't do anything bad. Some of them do get back to them at random outside of their influence. Maybe curiosity, maybe under a spell?
The forest itself at night would glow in the deep, surrounded by it's pink and red fog, enrapturing an alluring glow to unsuspecting travelers. Once you're in, you may already be under their control. To others, they would only need to hear the tick of a clock in broad daylight or take a glance from their eyes or the pocket watch they always carry. No matter what it is, it calls for you no matter what.
But how do you know someone is under their spell? We do not know, but what we know is that the timekeeper has their "allured allies", sometimes being just as friendly as anyone else, at rare times inviting you to the timekeeper, but always carry a distinct color, and not a single one of them is identifiable from those who were missing.
If you lost sight in life, I've heard you can give yourself to them and gain a new purpose. Maybe one of their many familiars or just another of their allies. Of course, they'll still give you freedom as they are not hostile or selfless, but of course, bound to their will.
Nonetheless, I've heard this character to be a friendly one among the masses, blending in with the others along with our village, and even helping the village from trouble, so they might not be harmful at all, this named Soul Timekeeper Qai. Quite a weird name to call by, but it's what the people call them.
But why ask these questions when you can visit the forest yourself, or rather, experience it yourself? As the souls of the curious ring out, even from behind, through the voice you've been listening to all of this time.
Tick-tock.
Would you like to enjoy a small experience that would last a day? Time knows no bounds, and I quite know what you're already going to say."
=================================
Okay, that's all just the back of my head as I wrote this entry itself. Since it's gonna be spooky month, I wanted to write something mysterious about them, but not too scary.
Honestly, this is all inspired by the Chronologic Kaiera module, and playing more with a magical vibe than a steampunk-y or modern take with timekeepers. (Partly Senty's non-canon caster design.)
Hope you like the small little excerpt though!
