I'm not sure if you remember, but back in season 1 there was a conversation after an early fight where Amiya was explaining arts to the Doctor. During this conversation, it was explained that you can cast arts either with some kind of staff with an arts unit it it, or by using originium in your body if you're infected. However, if you do the second, it makes your infection worse. Generally, the most powerful infected casters are burning away their life pretty fast.

And it was super cool because that is an theme released a long time ago released on the arknights channel. I guess it would sorta be a character theme for Faust and Mephisto? Its called Lullaby and was original sung in Russian. Maybe check it out! Also basically all of reunion is infected, and casting arts can make it worse.

As for Frostleaf shes probably the only one who couldve tooken that frost attack from frostnova due to her ice powers which they showed her use. Anyone else mightve gotten fully frozen over and killed. Also the song they said was an incantation to turn her ice into black ice which as you saw was much more powerful. (No spoilers just clearing up some stuff). The song was never in japanese so jp version is exclusive to the anime which is pretty cool.
