Added 2018-07-03 16:52:55 +0000 UTC
Hey look, I found a title.
Thanks so much to everyone who contributed notes and advice to this project. I'll put up a higher-rez copy of the BTS stream we did last night later this evening :)

Hey, I commented this on YouTube, but I figure you put enough care into your mental health that you likely don't read those comments often. So I'm signing up to my first patreon because I've thoroughly enjoyed your work and I hope you might see this.
You came tantalizingly close to talking about "Get Out" you even had a frame of Jordan Peele's face during the Oscars. It is such a frightening variation of H.P. Lovecraft's fear of the other that it deserves mentioning. And while Lovecraft's fears were baseless and ignorant Peele's are legitimate especially in the developing political climate of the U.S. Anyway, love you, love your work.

'Who goes there?' was first published in '38... 'At the mountains of madness' in '36... 'The thing from another world' was released in '51... John Carpenter's 'The Thing' in '82. So while JC may not have been influenced by Campbell... Campbell MAY (and I say MAY) have been influenced by HP. We can only speculate.

I keep coming back to this video over and over again. It's deeply touching, not only because I relate (loving Lovecraft, bisexuality, etc.), but also because it describes so well a lot of the struggle I've had as an adult with reconciling my life as an "outsider" and who I am with the problematic art that was emotionally important to me and my personal development. Thank you for this.

What makes you think The Thing was influenced by At the Mountains of Madness? The book it's based on was published 2 years after At the Mountains, but neither the author nor John Carpenter have said there's intentional influence. If I'm misremembering what you said in the video, apologies.

as someone who really liked your lisa analysis and the story analysis segments of your fallout and Dark souls 2 vid, this really hit the spot. I really like it when you get serious, honestly.

I’m in the middle of playing Night in the Woods right now, and I can’t remember the last time I was this excited for someone’s take on a video game!

You gotta read 'Winter Tide' by Ruthanna Emrys like immediately if you haven't, it's definitely dealing with issues that you're definitely talking about and might be interested in it.

An absolutely interesting look into things I had never considered about Lovecraft's work. Not the racism thing, I totally understood that one. But the stuff about Othering I never really considered. I'm glad I'm subscribed to you.

I'm not angry. Just disappointed.
But, more seriously, is there something I need to do to fix this?

I tried looking through the Youtube comments and the Discord but couldn't find the idea I just thought up in the shower, so here goes. Bram Stoker? More like Gramsci Stirner!

Yet another great video Hbomb!
Anyway I already stated it in Discord and Twitter, but my name on credit page seem to have ended with invalid character as it stated "Mario Babi?". It should be "Mario Babić". But if in future "ć" is still invalid character, "c" should suffice. As in "Mario Babic".
Otherwise, glad to support ya buddy!

Thanks for fixing the aspect ratio of those film clips. That was slowly driving me crazy in the rough cut version of this video.

HP Lovecraft haunts me because I get the sense he was great at writing horror BECAUSE he was so scared of the world, and of everyone who was different than him. He turned a gross personality flaw (one so severe that it bordered on neurosis) into a nice creative career, and I sometimes fear that's what we're all doing.
