SOY BOYS: A MEASURED RESPONSE is now up!

as someone who has been obsessed with nutrition and food since high school... your diet hurts my soul. i would happily prepare for you all the healthy food i eat, which i personally usually find tasty... too bad i'm in canada, bud! let me know if youre ever around ottawa. yes, this is a realistic offer. p.s. fruit isnt the healthy thing, its the vegetables, unfortunately. many fruits and some vegetables can easily spike blood sugar. the truth is that fat is important for satiety, nutrition, blood sugar regulation, and absorption of nutrients from vegetables. p.p.s. i am currently chowing down on a divine hot bowl full of vegetables and a delicious 7% beer. i can honestly say ive rarely had better food than the food i cook myself. p.p.p.s. its a shame that salad is the universal "healthy" food. salad is cold and often sad. hot vegetable stew is the hearty food of a beautiful soul, imo.

@thiccrat_

damn, it's great

Hey Hbomb, my mom thinks that soy reduces menopause-induced hotflashes. What's your opinion?

I guess that raises the question then - why is it that a subsection of the community has pushed an anti-scientific position that _just so happens_ to be targeted at their political opponents? I mean, doesn't that already sound bizarre, even putting aside the fact that it's effectively a nonsense conspiracy on no evidence?

Great work dude, very good video as always.

I kind of came here to see if anyone else was missing from the credits because I didn't want to be a pain about it in private messages or anything.

I started supporting you because of this video, even though I'm not really a leftist myself. You did a great job reminding everyone how science really works. I bet a majority of people who watch this video, even if they disagree with your political ideals, will come out of it with a much stronger understanding of how to evaluate blog articles (even "reliable" ones like SciAm) and scientific claims. And then the Internet will get a little less shitty.

Oh good you pointed out the sperm per millimeter thing. The previous version I had to pause to yell at the screen because this dude seems to think dick size comes into it.

Perhaps also worth noting that the 99-person infertility study clearly p-hacked a publishable result. None of the p-values show a p<0.05 *except* for the sperm count per milliliter, which is what is cited by the blog post. I wish I had a stronger statistical background to better explain this, but if the standard for publishing a test result is "there is a five percent (one in 20) chance that the relationship demonstrated is not found by chance" and there are about 20 relationships the study tests, then there is a good chance that you'll find a p-value of less than 0.05 by chance!
