Sherlock Is Garbage, And Here's Why

It's finally up! Again!

I'm not certain if this will manage to stay up, but if it doesn't I will find a more permanent solution, IE buying the Vimeo membership that lets you keep things this big up on there, or getting verified on vid.me

Thanks again for your patience, and also for future-patience in the event that the Lefist Orwellian BBC has me disappeared and the video needs to go underground.

If only I had seen this before I gave Apple my money to buy Sherlock.

its possible this was my first video and possible i watched it in my bathtub while having a crisis and somehow it made me feel like i got closure and could finally move on, which is weird, because i was never in a relationship with BBC Sherlock. i say possible because my mind is like porridge at this point.

@thiccrat_

Dear Mr. Harris B. Omberguy, please make the video where you prove that Shirley Holmes and Sherlock Holmes in the Future 2 : Electric Boogaloo are canon. Thank you for considering

Good shit.

Let me start by thanking you for not mangling my name too much. :) I've thought about this video for a few days, and I feel like you might be mixing two critiques here. One is of Moffat's disrespect for the audience and source material, the inconsistency of the narrative, the Chekhov's guns strewn about still loaded, etc, which are obviously entirely understandable criticisms. But the other seems like a rejection of TV series as multi-chapter narratives, as opposed to one-offs with a narrow connecting thread, which was the standard for earlier Dr. Who, most TV series before the late 1990's (and even today), and the old film serials. I think that this issue is not a specific problem with Moffat, but a transformation of the medium, which you have clearly shown him not to have dealt with well. "High-brow" television has gone the route of long narratives since Babylon 5, Buffy, The Sopranos, etc, showed that this was a workable model, especially now that people can binge-watch shows or catch up on previous episodes at their leisure, and actually do so, which is not something TV producers could expect of audiences for most of the medium's existence. So I feel that perhaps, in this aspect, you're putting much more of the onus on him and his incestuous production team than they might deserve. For all we know, Moffat would personally rather not do long narratives. Maybe he misses being able to focus on something he does better, the open-and-shut one-off, but the current environment wouldn't allow it. Maybe he doesn't know what to do with cliffhangers. Maybe this is the source of his disdain for Sherlock fans: maybe he blames them for being forced to be out of his element.

Thank you for saying my name. My life is complete.

Wow that was amazingly comprehensiveness and insightful! Also glad you addressed the queerbaiting and sexism, I imagine there'd probably be ableism and racism in there two based on what someone I know who watched most of the series has said. Heck the whole "They're crazy and therefore evil and makes no sense!" thing is kind of shitty on a cultural level.

Dave

Smart move saving the Anime adaptations for their own video/video series.

"NGE is Garbage, And Here;s Why" When?

Jenna Flynn

Oh god, I love the NGE intro!

Lovely, thank you!

Ian 'Weclock' Scott

oh, fuck, well nevermind then.

Nick V.

I'd recommend avoiding vid.me, tbh. I went and looked and it's flooded with alt-righters and folks like Stephan Molyneux.
