The Killing Joke Movie and The Problem With Comics

This is a video that got voted for on Twitter. It started out as being an exploration of Batgirl in relation to the bad killing joke adaptation, but became something more broad in the process of being made.

I'll have another poll up so people can vote on the next video soonish. But up next: The thing I dyed my hair for.

I enjoy when you talk about a subject I'm unfamiliar with; I get to learn while I learn! Great video =)

Really well done, kudos!

That's definitely salient. Like always, history holds up the men who took part in the field more than the women and I should try to be more aware of that. I'm very happy the people support me do always expect better of me. Thanks. Next time I talk about comics I will rectify this.

I really liked this. The cavalcade of C-List comic book characters had me in stitches. If I had one criticism it's that your history of comics is very, very male. Male artists and writers made comics great. Male writers and artists killed comics. I'm friends with many women who make comics and I don't think they would like to think of their medium as "dead" (even as a hyperbole). I was at the Ignatz Awards a couple years back when women swept it, so I would like to think of those artists as the future within the indie scene and beyond. I can't dispute your interpretation of comic book history in the broad strokes, but I think it's a bit too reductive. It's an industry that women are continually written out of and I think that trend should come to an end.

Trust me - the only disability Frank Miller has is being Frank Miller.

Yay! One minor thing: I'm not terribly happy about the dig at Frank Miller @ 1:31, which I thought was a bit ableist.

This month's thanks were in the Bloodborne video. Normally I try to spread them across all the videos I make in a month, but the BB one was so long that I felt it needed long credits.

is there a reason why their is no thanks to the patreons at the end?
