I think this opinion is already in the ether, but I never read it as though he was literally her father, but rather an endeavour to 'own' her, as though his putting her through such obstacles made her a point of pride for him. That she chooses to disown him despite his endeavours to "mould" her, and show ingratitude is why he ultimately tried to tear her apart. The rushed conclusion with the X taking away samus' Metroid DNA was a bit naff, but otherwise the conclusion to this Metroid game was just awesome.

2022-07-22 07:33:14 +0000 UTCSo I'm pretty sure that Raven Beak calling Samus his daughter is a case of Mercury Steam playing Other M and doing the opposite at every opportunity. Other M is about Samus' daddy issues, and everyone hated it. Here we have another "father figure," and Samus conspicuously does not care at all. That's also why Adam almost never tells you where to go or what to do (if, indeed, he ever speaks to you at all).
