094 - Eat What You Kill Unless It Was a Hamster
Added 2020-10-01 03:15:12 +0000 UTCMy friend Destin hunts a little and did growing up. I don't, but I respect it and I enjoy hunting stories. Also there's a bigger point to all this in this friendship/windshield time episode.
I made a new playlist for this episode that's linked in the shownotes. What's not in the shownotes is this link to my 2020 playlist on Spotify which is PURE GOLD, and will only make your life better.

Enjoy friends!

Yeah, it's very hard to take responsibility for things and make decisions when you're taught your whole life that mistakes are not acceptable. That even one is one too much. With that mentality, I used to be locked in indecision simply trying to order from McDonald's. It can really be crippling.

2020-11-24 23:17:37 +0000 UTCIs there a playlist somewhere that I missed?
2020-11-10 15:06:08 +0000 UTCIf you liked "Where Were You" by Ghost Ship. I would suggest "A Man Named Job" by Ryan Proudfoot. It is fantastic!
2020-10-15 23:35:22 +0000 UTCI literally just logged in to say this very thing!
2020-10-14 14:03:51 +0000 UTCDestin saying that hearing "Harvest Moon" makes him really love his wife makes me think he recently saw the movie "A Quiet Place" and the scene with that song.
2020-10-08 14:58:20 +0000 UTCMatt/Destin/Anybody who loves good music - If you want a song that hits you right in the feels, I recommend listening to “No Hard Feelings” by the Avett Brothers. It’s a heavy end song that is beautiful and sad and hopeful all in one. And if you love the song - there is a documentary on HBO called “May It Last” that documents the bands story as it releases that album. Made me an Avett Fan for sure.

2020-10-05 20:52:11 +0000 UTCWould love an episode where Matt and Destin spend more time talking about more of the things they are intentional about doing with their kids. Being a parent, it’s always encouraging to hear what other parents are doing to prepare their kids for life.

2020-10-05 13:56:28 +0000 UTCThe discussion about indecisiveness reminded me of the talks by Simon Sinek, really recommend checking them out. He really puts words to what really is a hard subject to discuss. As always this was a great episode!
2020-10-03 17:55:27 +0000 UTCLord Huron is one of my most favorite bands ever. Their second album, Strange Trails, is a different sound than this but is a personal top 5 album for me. But really, all 3 of their albums, while each different in their own right, are stellar.
2020-10-02 21:53:35 +0000 UTCWhat Destin said about indecisiveness really resonated with me. That is something I see day-to-day in a public university setting. I saw it in myself when I started school and I have been working hard to “catch up” to that level of responsibility. I think its a societal issue, but solving it in your family is the best/ potentially only solution. Love your conversations, I hope you guys continue to serve this group as you have to me in the past.

2020-10-02 13:35:01 +0000 UTCI made a copy of the original playlist on Apple Music (save the Lord Huron cover of Harvest Moon since it's a spotify exclusive... put the original Neil Young track at the end as a replacement). https://music.apple.com/us/playlist/ndq-094-playlist/pl.u-YG0bPibe534
2020-10-02 01:12:35 +0000 UTCDestin, you have to listen to the original version of Harvest Moon by Neil Young.
2020-10-01 23:38:52 +0000 UTCI hear the ‘no social media’ usage for children. These companies target adults enough, let alone how they can influence children. The statistics on depression/suicide with pre-teens since social media is astounding. It has sky rocketed. Scary stuff.
2020-10-01 18:44:16 +0000 UTCCan we get a picture of "The Space Cowboy", please?
