Alright, so I finished two illustrations with two different shading techniques (even though they’re some similarities on specific points). I just want to know which one you prefer visually. Not the character, just the one you found more appealing. It doesn’t mean I’m going to choose what will be voted first but it will help me into deciding how to shade properly. Thanks for your time!

Wow that's a great analysis 😲 It was exactly my intentions for both pictures. I'm glad to find someone who can relate to my train of thought. I think that's my main issue since i started drawing more seriously. I always wanted to have both a mature and cartoon/colorful style but it's definitely not suitable or it would ask a lot of work to find a good balance. But lately i've been more attracted to those saturated colors and bouncy forms like on the Yor one, so i guess it's where i should be heading. Thanks a lot, that helped me!

2023-01-19 18:11:35 +0000 UTCI really like the shading on the Yor, and imo it looks a lot more unique. The shading on Noel looks really nice too, but it gives it more of a "mature" look to the character. Where as Yor looks a lot softer, the colors transitioning a lot smoother from one surface to another. From hair, to face, to clothes. It just gives it a really nice look.
