Foxes don't raid hen houses guarded by a vigilant hound . . . and wolves don't risk stalking flocks they know are watched over by a sharp shooter with a rifle . . . One of the best ways to lower crime is to have an Apex Predator in the area on the constant watch. Keep the criminal element too scared s#!tless to try anything

Or you could argue that Batman (after his last upgrade) did not buy the Blackrock Prison and Arkham Asylum and rebuild them with JLA technology to make them escape proof, give the cops better training and equipment and repaired the economy of Gotham and belongs in Hell because he did not do all that. He will get rewarded for the lives he saved.
