I think that might be part of the appeal of post-apocalyptic fiction: In those stories, the protagonists may have problems with zombies or wasteland mutants, but all the petty, day-to-day stress has been swept away.
Yep, it's decided: In 2016, I'm gonna take a real vacation. I NEED one, dammit!

If it's travelling to someplace exotic and having 'fun', then by all means, do something like that somehow. :)
