Sawada and the others followed Dodai's steps into Hidden Cloud Village. What hit them first was the sight of three-dimensional buildings constructed along the mountainside, with structures built layer upon layer on steep slopes.
Sawada looked around curiously. This kind of scenery was rare back home.
Since everything was built on mountains, the connections between buildings relied on suspended walkways and suspension bridges. Countless Hidden Cloud Village residents were already peering down at them from above.
"Are those from Konoha?"
"Yeah, look at the headbands and flags. Definitely Konoha."
"Are those the people who injured Killer Bee-sama?!"
"Maybe Raikage-sama called them over to give 'em a good beating for revenge?"
Oh, wow...
Sawada's excellent hearing caught every word. Besides the genin who'd come to watch the show, who among these people were ordinary civilians?
Everyone's attention focused on Dodai at the front. The man naturally felt those stares from behind but just kept leading them to their lodgings with an expressionless face. Hidden Cloud Village's customs had always been like this.
Dodai had no authority to make the villagers shut up.
Right now, what worried him more was whether Samui and Darui could stop the powder keg that was their Raikage. When A had heard that Sawada was coming, he'd been so angry he was practically in tears, saying he wanted to teach the kid a good lesson.
After all, Killer Bee's injuries were still healing. Although Sawada had extracted the chakra from Killer Bee's body, the guy was barely alive when he returned. Without the Eight-Tails' help, Killer Bee might not even be able to get out of bed right now.
And... Dodai's gaze subtly shifted toward Sawada.
How fortunate Konoha was. First they'd had Minato Namikaze. Sure, he'd died not long after becoming Fourth Hokage, but now Konoha had Sawada, and he was even younger than Minato had been.
Lost in their thoughts, everyone barely noticed when Dodai finally brought them to a stop. This was an independent mountain peak that looked similar to other peaks in the area.
However, Sawada's attention went to the distance, where there was a huge double-horned building. The word "Lightning" was carved on the outer wall, with watchtowers around it guarded by sentries.
Raikage Building?
Seeing Sawada's gaze, Dodai broke his silence and began introducing the area to the Konoha group.
After one glance, Sawada paid no more attention. Dodai finished his introduction, and Hiruzen had everyone go inside first. In another person's village, no matter how confident you were, necessary caution was still required.
Dodai didn't mind, just standing nearby to accompany them.
Suddenly—
Whoosh. Whoosh.
Two sounds of rushing air.
Kakashi immediately appeared in front of Hiruzen with a vigilant expression. Shisui, who'd been hiding in the crowd, materialized behind Hiruzen simultaneously, his standard long sword held horizontally in front of him.
Sawada just raised his hand. Yang Release energy instantly covered it like armor.
Two figures appeared beside him, both looking at him in disbelief. Their attack had been blocked?
A red-haired girl about Choji's height was about to draw her sword, but Sawada just glanced at her. He slightly increased the force in his hand.
Bang.
The girl's long sword shattered directly. Broken blade fragments grazed past her cheek, leaving a bloody mark.
Meanwhile, another youth of similar age immediately abandoned his sword, grabbed the girl, and retreated.
Only then did Sawada get a clear look at his attackers.
Karui? Omoi?
Though these two were still young, their appearances were recognizable.
"Outrageous! Karui! Omoi! What do you think you're doing?!" Dodai stood in front of them with a panicked expression, scolding harshly.
"Wait a moment," Sawada said calmly. "In the ninja world, attacking others means being prepared to die."
His voice was very calm, yet it made Dodai break out in a cold sweat.
Drawing swords against invited guests in your own village... Although the Raikage wouldn't care about such etiquette and face, Dodai couldn't be so casual. Kumogakure's reputation still needed maintaining. They couldn't embarrass themselves now.
Dodai quickly bowed to Sawada. "I'm truly sorry. These two children are Killer Bee's disciples, so they acted somewhat impulsively."
Sawada raised his eyebrows. These words were truly beautiful.
Children. Impulsive.
The meaning was clear—if he got angry, then he'd be in the wrong, right? When had the ninja world ever had the concept of 'children'? In the past, even six or seven-year-old kids had gone to the battlefield.
"Dodai-sama! What're you afraid of! If he wants to kill me, let him come!" Karui pushed away Omoi who was holding her, and glared angrily at Sawada.
Sawada looked at the burning Karui before him and felt his temples throb.
If he remembered correctly, this Karui was supposed to be Choji's future wife?
"Silence!"
A cold voice came with gradually approaching footsteps. Samui walked over with an icy expression, her gaze fixed directly on Sawada.
Sawada raised his eyebrows. Great, another person coming to find trouble.
Hiruzen watched all this with interest, as if completely unconcerned with the current situation.
After a long moment, Samui turned toward Karui and Omoi. "Apologize!"
Dodai couldn't help but breathe a sigh of relief.
Sawada watched with a calm expression. Fighting had been impossible from the start anyway.
"Why—" Karui was about to refuse when Omoi beside her covered her mouth.
Seeing Omoi constantly blinking and Samui's increasingly cold aura, Karui felt her spine chill and finally nodded helplessly.
Phew. Omoi couldn't help but exhale, then quickly bowed to Sawada. "Senior, we're sorry!"
Karui's face was full of anger, first glaring at Sawada, then at Samui. Finally, under Samui's cold gaze, as if bearing great humiliation, she bowed to Sawada and shouted loudly, "Sorry!"
"It's fine. I wasn't injured—only your sword broke." Sawada shrugged with a helpless expression.
Kakashi looked at Sawada expressionlessly, muttering to himself. This kid... is he trying to add fuel to the fire now?
Though these words didn't have much destructive power, they were extremely insulting.
Sure enough, Karui, already full of resentment, was about to speak when Omoi beside her pulled her away and left without looking back.
Watching the two figures gradually disappear, Samui nodded to both Dodai and Hiruzen before turning to leave.
Although Dodai straightened his expression, he still enthusiastically invited Hiruzen, Sawada, and the others inside.
His mentality was pretty good, all things considered.
Sawada shook his head. This show isn't thrilling enough.
