Hostage Diplomacy

It started with an exploration into the underground ruin beneath the elven capital city of Aerisia. The elves discovered a large kobold tribe called "Black Claws" had moved in and taken over the ancient site. The Aerisian army was tasked with the elimination of the Kobold "infestation".

After several decisive victories by the Aerisian troops, The conflict came to an end with the death of the Black Claws' chieftain and the capture of his son, Nokbu. The kobold fighters surrendered afterward. Many were driven away from the ruin while the rest were subjugated by Aerisia.

Several years later, Another conflict between the two factions broke out. United after the previous loss of the Black Claws, many Kobold tribes joined forces. Fighters secretly entered Aerisia's underground using the tribe's knowledge of the site and simultaneously launched multiple ambushes on the occupying elven troops.

Fighting rapidly spilled to the surface, into the streets of the capital. Aerisian troops were caught off guard by the surprise attack and the massive numbers of the kobolds. In the end, the city fell to the Black Claws and its allies within a week. Afterward, the elven king of Aerisia was executed, and the royal family as well as high-ranked officers were taken hostage. Nokbu was free and the surviving elves are now living under the new kobold rules.
