Ninja Fitness Workout
Added 2016-03-23 19:46:42 +0000 UTCThe first of March's backer-chosen bonus pieces is done! Voters decided this month's Gertrude pin-up should have a "ninja fitness workout" theme. I am... not entirely sure what a ninja mafia fitness workout entails, but it looks like they probably go through a lot of punching bags.
The other big winner this month was Sam and Fuzzy dressed as "infamously terrible 90s gaming mascots". I just have to decide which mascots! Any suggestions? I'm partial to Bubsy.

Ha! It's weird how many food product mascot platformers got made, and weirder still that any of them were any good! But for every Cool Spot there was also an... ugh... Chester Cheetah Too Cool to Fool.

2016-03-29 19:32:21 +0000 UTCYeah, a bunch of the Cool Spot folks also worked on Aladdin! Then David Perry (who directed both) took a bunch of that staff and went off to start his own studio, where they made Earthworm Jim.

2016-03-24 07:18:11 +0000 UTCI only ever played the N64 version which....well, mostly I remember that Gex had a different look/costume in each level. I'm not sure it's a good sign that that was the only memorable part.

2016-03-24 07:12:04 +0000 UTCI remember Cool Spot having really good animation for the time even if a lot of the levels (or maybe just the level with the bathtub) were frustrating as hell. I feel like it was animated by the same studio that did the Aladdin and Jungle Book Mega Drive games

It was a pretty blatant lift... he just looks like a quill-free Sonic in a pirate costume. Were any of the Gex games good? They made three of them!
