Not to be pedantic, but we are skeptics here. Tom mentioned in the episode that the Black Sun symbol is Norse-inspired. It's actually French. Today, the sign referred to as the Black Sun is inspired by a Merovingian symbol. Scandinavian Sunwheels had straight spokes and are from the Bronze Age (not Norse), while the Merovingian has lightning shapes. The connection between the idea of the Black Sun and that symbol is also a new idea. Originating from a German Nazi thriller book. The first time the Black Sun was called just that was in Die Schwarze Sonne von Tashi Lhunpo by author Russell McCloud in 1991. As a Scandinavian archaeologist, I'm also not a fan of the word Norse. Viking is, in my opinion, better if we want to talk about the whole Scandinavian culture during the Viking age. John-Stucke, K. and Siepe, D. (2022). Myths of Wewelsburg Castle. Paderborn: Brill.
