The Shadow Shard - Deleted scenes #3

More deleted scenes. This scene was one of the first I wrote for TSS. I wanted to include Cadance in this story, but eventually cut those pages out to save time. 

PAGE 1

Panel 1

Cadance in Flurry’s room. Spike carries box of baby supplies. SA and Flurry are sleep in the BG.

Cadance: Thanks Spike. Really appreciate it.

Spike: No worries. I figured you may need some help. 

Panel 2

They leave the room and enter the hallway. It’s brightly lit, but the colours are cold.

S: Cadance? Can I ask you something?

C: Of course you can!

Panel 3

S: Is taking care of Flurry very difficult?   

C: *chuckles* You have no idea. It’s exhausting!  

Panel 4

S: It is? 

C: Yes. But it doesn’t matter. / It was our choice to have a baby and she makes us very happy. 

Panel 5

They enter another room. Cadance picks up boxes he carries in her aura.

S: What about...somepony who didn’t have a choice? Would she still be happy?

Panel 6

C: I can’t speak on behalf of others, Spike… / But I believe that Twilight made her own choices.

S: What? Wait! It’s not about Twilight. 

Panel 7 Cadance making “really?” face.

S: Okay, it’s about Twilight.

S: *sigh*  I mean...wouldn’t she be happier without having to take care of me?

Panel 2

Cadance surprised.

C: I don’t believe she would. She always loved you, Spike.  

S: But...not like...a mom, right?

Panel 3  

C kneels down. He plays with his tail.

C:  Why not ask her?

Panel 4 

S:  Honestly? I don't think I should.

C: Why...?

Panel 5

S: I already have her friendship.That’s good enough, right? 

Panel 6

S: And wanting more… would be greedy.

She lifts his chin up.

C: I understand, Spike. 

S: You do?

Panel 2 

C: Yes. You are not greedy. You want to belong. And I know how it feels. I too was orphaned.

S: Yeah.I know. It’s just….

Panel 3 

S:  You know her, Cadance. What if she freaks out?

Panel 4 

She hugs him.

C: She may “freak out”, but it doesn’t mean she wouldn’t think about it later.  

Panel 5 

C: You should give her a chance to answer. 

Panel 6 

S: You know...I think...

Panel 7 

[Never call me that.]

S: ...I already know her answer.
