Materials #2 - Hot Glue & Gun
Added 2022-02-21 17:47:08 +0000 UTCSo one of the biggest things I have learned from other makers and experience is what materials to use. Today Id like to touch briefly on the glue that I use. It makes a huge difference when you get the correct glues. The right glue is pricey so if you're just starting out, regular all purpose glue is fine

This is the Infinity Bond "Scout" Glue Gun that I use. I Highly recommend it as a sort of middle of the road / inexpensive gun. I take very poor care of mine and it has always been reliable. You can buy it here.
Minimum 150 watts of power and 380 degrees should be the minimum you work with. I have purchased a coordless one to try and review for you all.
Glue Sticks:
Usually when you start out, you will buy all purpose glue sticks from your regular craft store. As you really begin to improve, or begin to work professionally, I highly recommend moving up to premium glue sticks. I am currently working to review everything on the market (I've ordered a few samples to show the difference) but at this time the ones I recommend and use are...
Essential:
Infinity Mighty Joe (average/ stronger but heavier) For Gluing Parts such as Noses, Eyes, Ears, and lips (heavy parts)
Optional:
Infinity Average Joe (cheap/ weaker) in very small spread out portions for gluing Fur or Lining. This saves you money, but really shouldnt be your go to for toughter parts.
Infinity Super TAC55 (light/ weaker) for gluing lining and light fabrics such as minky to the ears. This will add the least amount of weight.
Infinity Tough Guy (Strong/Heavy) in small portions for stubborn things. This is a heavier glue and will add weight to the head. I recommend ordering this in very small portions and applying only to places that really need the extra stick and in minimal amounts. This can also be used in large quantities for glueing shoes to the bottom of the feet.
I also often use fabriTac & e6000 however I am learning how to best use these tools, so Ill discuss them at a later date.
