Development Update July 24th

Why hello there! It's time for another update post and I have some good news for you: I am almost finished with writing chapter 4! There's only a handful of scenes left, maybe around 10k words in total. I'll still have to do a bunch of proof reading and stuff like that, but the next demo update is not too far off.

With that being said, I also thought about adding a new perk for patreon members in the form of a sneak peek. I think it might be interesting to take a few out of concept snippets and compile them in a preview of sorts. It should generate some hype without spoiling anything. Kind of like a "next time on Misplaced:"

I'd post that sneak peek soon, maybe at the end of the week. I think it should be available for all subscription tiers since the Squire Tier is looking a little uninviting when you only really get these update posts from it.

Back to the progress of chapter 4: there are less branching paths in the latter third of the chapter (since I want the start of chapter 5 to be on relatively even ground and not split over multiple plot lines), so I have been able to write this part a lot faster. The heat wave has passed as well so I can work without issues.

With the end of chapter 4 approaching, I've also gone back and tweaked a few things in the previous chapters. I am trying to limit myself and save a full rewrite for later when I am sure I won't keep changing everything with every update. It is tempting though.

I have also begun looking over my outline for chapter 5 and planning how to approach writing that one. I want to get started with writing that even while I'm proofreading chapter 4 so I don't lose my flow.

The last thing to mention is the next short story! It will feature Lady Maeve and grant some inside into the fae side of things. I can't completely avoid spoilers in that regard, but none of it will be plot relevant and everything you learn about dryads will be brought up in the main story at some point anyway. You just get the info a little early.
