Quick update, ladies and gents, and that is that we're temporarily stalled.
I have been unable to recontact the aforementioned local guy. It's not a case of him 'ghosting' me or anything- I thought I had his number from several years ago, but I can't find it. A message left through the one other point of contact has not yet produced a connection.
Nothing nefarious, it's just modern communications SNAFU- he's an older gent and has no 'web presence', there are no phone books for cell numbers, and I suspect he doesn't even carry his phone around regularly. :) (And his old storefront landline is of course disconnected.)
I have also not heard anything from TopatoCo, either negative or positive. I'd expected at least a "thank you, but we're not accepting new clients at this time" or something. As I said, I probably don't have enough traffic for them...
There's always places like Cafepress and Zazzle, but I keep being told their shirts are mediocre quality, and I know that the last time I looked, they took like 85% of the sale price.
I do, as mentioned earlier, have my own fairly complete, but as-yet unassembled and untested screen-printing system. After the local guy went off to his other work, I wanted to restart the shirts, and have since collected, at no small expense, nearly everything I need. The only thing I'm short on is the emulsions used to mask the screens themselves. (And that's a chemical you want to use fairly fresh- I didn't intend to buy any until I was ready to give it a proper try.)
It would take me a couple of months to get that all set up- I have to build a stand for the spinny thing, among other little tasks- and clear a spot somewhere, where I can set it up, plus of course some practice time, etc.
Call that one our last-ditch option.
Stand by, we'll figure something out. ;)
