Boston Creme Pie

Almost nine years ago, we had this strip, in which one of several things the reader was told they'd "never see in TWB" was Sandy and Pirta bikini-wrestling in a giant Boston Creme Pie. :)

As noted earlier, I haven't had much chance to do "art for art's sake"- that is, draw something just for fun, rather than for the comic. A few weeks ago, I found the high-res copy of the original strip, and took that frame and reworked it- mainly because I've always wondered, myself, what it would look like in color. :)

I'm not terribly happy with how the crowd and lights came out, but it at least gives you the feel of a small event at a dive bar- which was kind of the original idea. :)

And hey, that's kind of the point to all this- to get better at this arty thing and all that. :)

*Laughs* I was being a bit facetious. Actually, I would have been more comfortable and "at home" in Howie's >before< the 'great renovation'. Yes, it's way more upscale and nicer, no argument, but to this old biker, not as 'cozy' or informal as before. However, that said, with Prita and Sandy goin' at it, as Brian Spencer pointed out, who the hell cares about 'ambience' with the girls in action center stage? :-D :-D :-D

If memory serves correctly, things like this were pretty much done exclusively in dive bars, largely to bring in business. (substitute 'boston cream pie' for 'whipped cream', or the more typical wet-t-shirt contest for the summer months. )

you should get in to animation :P

I swear I never noticed that first panel in the 10 year anniversary. :) It is nice to see a running gag like that continue on, like the April Fool's shower joke. I'll still commission ya for a follow up of some sort. :) Iffin you have the time/incination.

Brighttail Faux Pas

One day I may have to commission you for the 'after match' picture. You already got the after shower one in that strip. :) Need the in between!

Brighttail Faux Pas

The "first annual" was the original strip, linked above. The "second" annual was in the 10th Anniversary strip, 06-18-2012. :) And it was easy to 'stay true' to the original- I basically just reworked the original line art, rather than drawing it from scratch. :)

Doc Nickel

Third annual? Where is the photographic proof of years 1 and 2? :) You did good work here, Doc. Stayed true to the original. :)

The crowd looks like they're going to provide MST3K commentary on the action.

Well done!

Thank you!

I think I object to Howie's being referred to as a "dive bar". :-/ Kinda place I'd enjoy going to.

They both must have lost one heckuva bet to someone, Swampy most likely.

Crowd??? Lights?? Who the hell is looking at the background with the girls in action on the set???
