From Thailand’s National Scouts Day on, I decided to lower Wit’s age to around 9–10 years old, based on his scout level: Cub Scout.
Here, Cub Scouts are usually students in grades 1–3 (around 7–10 years old), then they move up to Boy Scout, and later Senior Boy Scout — which comes with fancy (and questionable) dark red accessories everywhere.
The Cub Scout uniform is basically just the regular student uniform with a Cub Scout badge and a two-colored neckerchief (the colors vary by school).
It’s designed to be affordable for younger students… before the uniform cost skyrockets once you move up to Boy Scout.
These days, there are tons of articles, infographics, and heated debates, both online and offline about whether we even need scout uniforms anymore, or if they should have existed in the first place.
I’m still terrified of getting dragged into that drama. Trust me, it’s not fun.
But I don’t think I can just leave it either. Because… when you think of scouts, you think of me, right?
Another little trivia:
Wich and Wit are pronounced exactly the same in Thai.
At first, I wanted to use Witch for วิชญ์, but it didn’t look quite right, so I dropped the t and stylized it as Wich.
Now his brother, Wit (วิทย์), is also pronounced the same, and even has the same meaning too.
I just love playing with words tho. XD
