Last but not least is Annie! Overall Annie is probably the character I’ve drawn the least, and yet she probably has at least as many appearances in the comic proper as Wheeler. She didn't completely become a regular in my mind until I trimmed down my (very) early cast a lot, and she ended up absorbing the traits of one of the cut characters. That gave her a lot more to work with and finally made her stand out in my mind a bit more, but it still took a bit for me to really start drawing her regularly.
2008

She’s decently cute here! I think my first attempt at Annie actually started off much better than my first attempts at some of the others, but it’s funny because I wouldn’t be able to replicate what charm was in this sketch for several years. You'll notice right off that she has a full head of hair which would stay in her design for quite some time. Her outfit will also stays fairly consistent for several years.
2009

Case in point, she looks less like an animal and more like a catgirl in 2009! I really don’t like any of these, but the full-body pic is one of my least favorite pics I’ve drawn. Between the weird human-like face and the horrible color palette, it’s pretty bad all around. I pulled this one from most of my galleries long ago so uh, enjoy these exclusives, patrons-!
Now that it’s in color, can you tell what RPG her jacket got inspiration from?
2012

Three years later she finally gets a proper design! The fur patterns and colors on her face and neck change a bit, and her outfit has a ton of slight changes to reflect the artstyle. One noticeable thing is her inner ears have an extra layer of white fluff over the black, like real red pandas, which is something I ended up dropping for simplicity. The most important thing is after 4 years she finally got an animal face again! Welcome back to the crew, Annie.
2014

It wouldn’t be a true Lesser Than Three retrospective if I didn’t do at least one redraw, but this one is actually a decent improvement over the last one (on top of it being a more interesting pose than Just Standing There) so this is one of the better character redraws. Her face is a bit more expressive and her pose is less stiff so you can see the improvement better here. Again her jacket gets several little changes including giving her a collar that makes a bit more sense.
2015

Not too much to say with this one - again, not one of my favorites - but you might noticed that she did start wearing this jacket again in recent comics here and there.
2017

In 2017 it was Annie’s turn to get an Actual Animal inspired redesign! One thing I wanted to tackle was giving here some actual red panda colors instead of the red panda-adjacent ones before, and between the orange-tinted and red-tinted versions I opted for the later. I ended up finding a shape for her face I really liked, but the big challenge was how to translate her new hairstyle to this new design? I ended up trying a lot of things and there’s a few styles in there that I do like, but nothing felt quite right. I kept going back to that base design and thinking how appealing it was, so…

I let her go bald! (Mostly)
She just has a few spikes on top of her head now - there were a couple of pics where I drew it as a kind of ponytail but for the post part it’s a little pineapple hairstyle. Trying to bring more red panda into her design I added more curves & fluff which I think looks really cute here, but it’s something that escapes from me pretty badly later. Her jacket gets one final redesign before it’s somewhat retired, but this is probable the one she still has in her closet. For a couple of years I outlines the black parts of her body (paws, neck) in a lighter brown so the linework would be a little more visible, which is admittedly something I had forgotten about until putting this all together. I still this this particular version of Annie is pretty darn cute!

...And her first appearance in current Lesser Than Three canon was, naturally, torment.
