BTF and Q&A

Hello Patreon supporters. The team is gearing up to record the next episode of BTF and the general Q&A. The cases being discussed on BTF are; Case 289 Stephen and Carol Baxter, Case 290 The Crawford Family, Case 291 David Pauley, Ralph Geiger & Timothy Kern and Case 292 Monster of the Andes. If you have any questions specific to those cases or any general questions to ask the team, put them in the comments below!

Hey Casefile Team! Long time listener, first time correspondent. Firstly, while Casey has a descent taste in music, his choice in rugby league teams is less than ideal! (I just hope my Dragons can win an ANZAC day match sometime soon!). Getting back to music, have you or the team listened to any King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard and what are your thoughts? If you haven't you definitely should! To my main question. Have any of the team listened to the "Trial By Water" podcast produced by journalists from the Nine papers (The Age and SMH). It covers the crime covered in Case 167: Jai, Tyler, and Bailey Farquharson. The premise of their podcast seems to be that the perpetrator may in fact be innocent (ie it was indeed cough syncope) or at the very least that there may have been insufficient evidence to convict him beyond reasonable doubt. I'd like to know the team thoughts on this having researched it in great detail.

I want to give yet another shout out to Mike M and commend him on his amazing score of this show. I asked this question a few years ago, (hoping the answer is different now) would you please consider releasing the background music as a single file for patrons? I love it so much that i wanna listen to it while I work 😂 I love you all!!! P.S. Casey please do not shy away from your Aussie accent and feel free to keep those “R’s” at the end of words for our listening pleasure

Hi Casey and Casefile team! Just curious if any of you have heard of or about Mayhem, a Norwegian black metal band? I found myself going down a rabbit hole on Reddit when I came across their story. It’s interesting but also VERY chaotic with so many names and pseudonyms. Maybe a case suggestion? It does involve several crimes.

Are there going to be more episodes of the Unfiltered podcast hosted by Raquel? I’ve really enjoyed some of the interesting dialogue from the show. Sorry if this has already been addressed elsewhere.

re: case 291, it always shocks me that this happened so recently because it sounds like something that couldn't have happened at all in the age of smart phones and technology. Do you think the police could have done more sooner? These men weren't friendless or without resources at all, but it seems like they were failed by a system that saw them as simply intransigent.

Stephen and Carol Baxter still makes me feel uneasy - they were a couple with means and could have gone to the US to meet Carol's "doctor," and maybe they would have lived Did you come across anything in your research that gave a reason why they didn't ever try to make an appointment with the doctor? For Monster of the Andes, what are the teams' guesses as to where Lopez is now? With such a prolific murderer presumably alive and definitely in hiding, do you ever read about a case and think "that's him for sure" and go down a rabbit hole?

Hello Casey and Co.!! I am a long time listener, all the way back to the early days of the show, and would love to be able to re-listen to old episodes like The Wanda Beach Murders and The Weepy Voiced Killer on the ad-free Patreon feed. Is there editorial reason why they are not available or is it something technical with the platform? Have you ever thought of dropping some of these older episodes ad-free into the feed while you take your twice yearly extended breaks? I understand the show has changed quite a bit since then in terms of audio quality, but the writing and narration was still tremendous, contrary to what Casey has implied in the past. I remember those episodes being really creepy and compelling and I think many listeners who missed out on them would find them interesting and I bet I’m not the only longtime listener who would like to go back for an ad-free revisit. Thanks for all your hard work and dedication and hope you are enjoying a well deserved break!

Hello Casefile Team,I've always wanted to ask, have you ever wondered if one day you'll run out of cases to write? Or is the problem quite the opposite, because nowadays it is so easy to find more cases written in different languages and even get all this information translated into English so easily?
