Case 186: The Bowraville Murders

Tap, tap, tap.

Muriel Craig heard a gentle knocking at the window as she bustled around her kitchen, cleaning the mess leftover from that evening’s meal. It was around 9 o’clock and completely dark out. Muriel looked up. It sounded like someone was rapping on the window from outside, but she couldn’t see anybody standing there.

I'm so happy they were able to get changes to the double jeopardy laws to be able to give this case another shot at justice after the travesty that played out in the first trial but to then be slapped with "sorry, doesn't actually apply to you" is disgraceful. I'm not Australian but it makes me feel like I let them down that they can't get the trial they deserve. Thank you for this one.

Demi

I remember listening to the Bowraville podcast and being so lost for words the first time I heard how awfully these families were treated, and what little care the police had for their lost children. This is such a tragic case, and very well covered by the Casefile team. I hope these families have some answers and closure some day

Ruka

What a heartbreaking episode, excellent job covering this Casefile! I'm not saying that's the way to go but this is a perfect example of why people turn to Street Justice!😡

Leah Budd

Thank you for the episode. Very sad. The guys delivering to the butcher that early morning, their experience probably could have changed everything. If only it had been brought to light. There is a killer out there. A killer who was expert, decades ago, at sedating women, raping them, killing anyone who got in his way. I hope justice somehow comes for him.

MM

I can't remember the last time I cried angry tears over a case. Beyond infuriating and heartbreaking for the families.

Frey Prevett

This one made me so furious. Those last three words just sum it up.

I was just so angry listening to this one. Injustice gets me every time.

Jacqueline

No that wasn’t it! It was years ago. Must’ve been a different podcast but I couldn’t tell you which one. Could’ve sworn it was casefile 🤷🏼‍♀️

Tessa

What a fantastic job you did on covering this case. How incredible frustrating and sad for the families.

Cal.G

What a disgrace - so sad 😞

I was a Police officer in the 70's & 80's. I'm so proud to say that we were never trained or encouraged to use choke holds, or knees to the neck compressions, thank God! In fact, we were strongly warned against it! Sadly, we did have racist cops! Their racist behavior was the most likely factor that would get me killed! In these last 5 years the "Trumpist Political Right" and "Fox News" have greatly fueled encouragement of the racist white supremacists, especially within police & military ranks. Trumps directive to gathered police representatives to " not be so nice when putting arrestees in the back seat! A blatant permission to "Murder George Floyd", and so many others! Why do these "FAKE CHRISTIANS", choose to hate? Why aren't all of them in prison? No preferential leniency for these fake faithful, the powerful wealthy, and corrupt politician, often sadly, all found in the same person. The January 6th, 2021 Capitol Treason should have never happened! Judges, please sentence them all to the maximum sentences, or the next time it will be your necks in nooses, instead of Mike Pences!

This lack of care by law enforcement and ultimate lack of justice is so frustrating. Thank you for the well told history.

Maybe you're thinking of the one where the teen Indigenous girls were killed in the mysterious car accident??
