Patreon Picks #9: Boy A

Dating back thousands of years, Children’s Day is buried deep in ancient tradition.  Large colourful carp streamers are hung outside houses of those with children to symbolize strength and success, whilst dolls of famous samurai warriors are proudly displayed indoors.  Families treat themselves with Kashiwamochi - rice cakes filled with sweet bean paste.

Patreon Picks #9: Boy A

He has no remorse at all. He wrote that 'memoir' purely to relive his crimes and gloat. He's a Psycho!

This episode is only 30min long but it took me until today to finish it because I kept getting creeped out and turning it off. Congrats Casefile, this was one of the scariest episodes to date (and brilliantly told).

Creepiest part, to me, is knowing he doesn't have to report to a parole officer or even a therapist. I feel that, at a minimum, if you commit murders as a young child you should be in therapy for the rest of your life.

Wonderfully done! I am always so impressed by how unbiased the team is. This case is so horrifying and that awful man wanted to glorify himself even further. If is hard to talk about the rights of people like Boy A. He is most certainly an antisocial personality. The team does a great job laying out the facts and leaving it there without opinion. There are many true crime podcasts that add extra commentary to vilify the figures accused. Boy A definitely deserves it, but I am happy I can do that on my own. Good work!

well I guess you get what you ask for. this one was the most grisly cases in a while. I almost wish I could unhear it. seeing the weird pictures of him online if you search his website name...just something else. i find this infinitely disturbing. he seems like the type of person you'd never think twice about if you knew him, seems to be in good shape, young, etc. These cases really make me emotional and want to throw away the key. 7 years and no supervision? I just don't get the no supervision part. yeah was laying in my bed with a totally horrified look on my face throughout this episode. i shudder to think what he gets up to on social media...

Woah 😳 brutal case

If you google Shinichiro Azuma a private Instagram pops up. Hard to tell from the small avatar but it does bear a resemblance to the few photos there are of the man as an adult

Ok

Grace

Alexandra, this was totally my thought process too 🤣

Maya George

I also thought Boy A was a victim for most of it, but eventually did catch on. Although I was expecting a 16 or 17 year old 😩

Stefan Bradley

Scariest part of Casefile for me is when Casey adds the extra warning at the start. Although the content of this one is scariest murder I’ve heard in a while 😳😳

Stefan Bradley

🤣

I’m organically not prone to thinking at weekends 😃

Alexandra Peshcherenko

In the UK, children who commit crimes are protected by law, so their names can’t be made public. I guessed it was the same in Japan. The fact the victims had been named in the episode indicated that the ‘Child A’ in the title was the killer.

Iain Strachan

I thought Boy is a victim till the very end 🤔

Alexandra Peshcherenko

Horrible story. Brilliantly told as usual. Thank you. One thing: the title of the episode kind of gave away the age group of the killer so it wasn’t as big as a surprise as it might have been.

Iain Strachan

These are released in the off weeks.... So instead of three weeks on, one week off, we get a shorter patreon picks episode! (Although they are now releasing the minisodes in the main feed too- with ads!) The regular episodes still come a week early if you pay and the minisodes are several weeks if not months early. 😀

Olive

When a patreon pic is released does that take the the place of a early release casefile?

John M

Hmmm, this one looks a little too gruesome for me, I think I’ll have to pass on listening.

Saraneth

Thanks Casefile. Loved the episode, never heard of this story, reminds me of Greyhound bus cannibal, though this one is more scary, as the perp seems not psychotic but psychopath. Thanks God I’m in Russia 😂
