Hi Connor, I mentioned in the Q&A (which will be out soon) that I emailed your question to Loren O'Keeffe, founder of Missing Persons Advocacy Network, and host of What's Missing. Here is her response; Whilst families and friends of missing people will all differ greatly in their response to their loved one’s disappearance (especially as every disappearance differs greatly in its nature and its ramifications), it is indeed best not to ask intrusive/upsetting questions like What do you mean?! Why? What do you think happened? Have you looked here / thought of this? Instead it’s best to acknowledge it with the sensitivity of a typical loss; by saying I’m so sorry. I can only imagine how difficult that must be. Do you want to talk about it or rather not? Then listen (listening is key, as most people feel too awkward and will want to change the subject) and/or offer — or simply take it upon yourself to do — things that might help (eg. searching, helping them with their housework, displaying posters, researching relevant resources, contacting organisations like MPAN etc). Basically, don’t ask questions that reveal your natural human curiosity, and don’t avoid them (the person) or the potential awkwardness. I’ve also attached a worksheet by the FFMPU, aimed at colleagues of a family/friend, with some helpful tips too 😊 (you can access the worksheet here: https://www.missingpersons.justice.nsw.gov.au/Documents/fs_colleague-missing.pdf Thanks again, Loren

2021-01-16 01:37:31 +0000 UTCThis is my favorite podcast. I’ve listened to all the episodes, several multiple times. Not always because I’m into the crime itself, but more because the layout and story telling is so good. Any chance there will be an HH Holmes or andrei chikatilo episode? Though done by others and known, I feel case file would present these well. Thank you for all the hard work.

2021-01-11 22:11:35 +0000 UTCHowdy team. Thanks for all your hard work and keeping casefile as one of the all time best podcasts ever. Would it be possible for any of the multipart episodes that are released that patreon supporters get all the episodes at once? As any of the multipart episodes I wait until I have all of it to listen too. As my brain is so faulty and forgetful that I need to listen to it all at once or I don’t remember previous weeks content.

2021-01-06 22:06:03 +0000 UTCHappy new year! I have a couple of questions about the last two Casefile Presents shows. During the What's Missing show, I recall many victim's families saying that what acquaintances/strangers say to them after learning about their loss doesn't actually help, but I don't remember any of them advising on what people should say to them to help them coping. What should be said when speaking with these families? For my second question, I was surprised that The Vanishing of Vivienne Cameron on Spotify didn't have any ads. Not that I am complaining, but what is the reason for this? Thanks again for all of your wonderful work!

2021-01-06 06:51:01 +0000 UTCHappy new year guys! How do you decide which details to include and which ones to leave out when you write about cases? Oh and how did you celebrate the holidays?

2021-01-05 23:28:23 +0000 UTCMy questions: Which episodes have been the most emotionally taxing for the host or the team to produce? Second question: Are the casefile team members pet people? Any beloved pets sitting alongside everyone as they produce and work from home? Thanks! Love your content so much.

2021-01-05 16:05:23 +0000 UTCWould you consider adding a few cases that happened in Mexico? There is only one so far involving an American victim, case #123. Three cases that I can recommend, which happened relatively recent (in the past 20 years) are: 1. "Mexico's 43" (2014): the suspicious disappearance of forty-three students in a Mexican town. One of Mexico's most notorious unsolved mysteries. (https://www.cnn.com/2020/09/28/americas/mexico-missing-students-six-years-later-intl/index.html) 2. Fatima Aldrighetti (2020): The disappearance and murder of a seven-year-old girl from Mexico City. The entire nation was gripped with outrage at the perceived mishandling of the investigation during the days she was missing. (https://www.bbc.com/news/world-latin-america-51570447) 3. Juana Barraza (2002-2006): A female professional wrestler and serial killer, convicted of 16 murders in 2008. Her criminal notoriety has become a gruesome icon in Mexican pop culture. 2021-01-05 15:53:23 +0000 UTCGood ideas. Did you listen to the Anni Dewani case? You might enjoy it if you didn’t.

2021-01-05 08:36:40 +0000 UTCI have wanted to mention a case you might find interesting. Here is the link 'Lady Of The Hills' body is identified after 15 years as Thai bride https://mol.im/a/6824585

2021-01-05 08:29:32 +0000 UTCOne episode I have wondered about was Allison Baden-Clay. In that case Allison’s husband had terrible fingernail scratch marks on his face. They recovered Allison’s body. But since you guys did not mention it I assume they never were able to use DNA matching his DNA from her fingernails as part of the proof of his guilt? Maybe as they lived together it would not really prove much?

2021-01-05 08:25:15 +0000 UTCHappy New Years guys! Have you ever considered doing some episodes from places like Asia and Africa? I know sometimes it can be hard to convert local things to English speaking audiences, not just almafhage but cultural stuff. Like cases involved in india would have to talk about corruption in the police and class systems etc which can be difficult, but wanted to ask if you guys were ever interested and if so what cases you were interested in. Thanks!

2021-01-05 08:22:33 +0000 UTCAlso - since Australia and the U.S. have opposite seasons, my friend wants to know if you all celebrate Christmas and summer holidays at once? Do you celebrate Christmas in July and summer vacation in December? How does it work?

2021-01-05 06:38:27 +0000 UTCI’m an American listener and wonder what your opinion is on the punk band The Distillers since the lead singer is Australian. I saw them live last year, they put up a fantastic show. What are your thoughts on them?

2021-01-05 06:36:17 +0000 UTCCasey, are you good at any Commonwealth accents? If so, which ones? And can you please demonstrate during your next audio Q&A?
