I listened to the whole thing for free on Spotify and I didn't have to register or buy anything and at moments, although it may be hard to believe, I actually forgot I was listening to a podcast on a different URL from where I listen to Casefile. Great podcast, thanks much to you and Vikki Petraitis,

Andrea Johnson

Hi Linda, just to clarify, you don't need to pay for a premium account to download podcasts for offline listening. Music yes, but not podcasts, you can download them using a free account.

FYI, those of us in low bandwidth areas (and there are many of us) cannot use Spotify to listen to podcasts. Not only must pay for Premium Spotify to download, but then then the downloads take forever. Same with the crap player on the phillipislandpodcast site; it just starts and stops. Enough to make me give up entirely. Glad Casefile is staying on Patreon but as a loyal paying fan, I feel shutout.

Hi Janine. Casefile is not going exclusive to Spotify. The Vanishing of Vivienne Cameron is a seperate series, just like the Casefile Presents shows Silent Waves and What's Missing - both of which weren't released on Patreon either. We are only able to release Casefile episodes on the Casefile Patreon.

Hi Linda. It's available freely on the website. https://phillipislandpodcast.com no app download needed. And it's not a casefile episode. It's a seperate series, just like the Casefile Presents shows Silent Waves and What's Missing - both of which weren't released on Patreon either. We are only able to release Casefile episodes on the Casefile Patreon. Casefile is not going exclusive to Spotify.

Casefile would you be open to sharing the decision to go exclusive on Spotify. Really does feel like a sellout. Wondering if you did any opinion testing with those that have been with you from the beginning?? Or even along the way?? Just interested as the podcast world is starting to feel like tv streaming. Totally understand you guys need to make a living, but just another loss for a genre that’s been so accessible to all. J 😊

Guess I need to stop paying Patreon for Casefile now. 😞

I hate Spotify

Listening now & I’m already excited. 😁

Tanya Jo

Excited to listen! I listen to Spotify for all my music already.

I am so glad that Casefile is presenting a multi-part series diving deeper into the Philip Island murder of Beth Barnard and focusing on what happened to Vivienne Cameron. It seems a lot of people will be avoiding it because of the Spotify exclusive but congrats on the partnership! Looking forward to listening!

Tearyawna Scott

I personally have no interest in listening to anything on Spotify, but I do wish you guys the best.

Maressa Calder

So hyped for this!

DaveC

Looking forward to this - and congratulations on the Spotify partnership! Go Casefile team!

You’ll be able to listen on The Vanishing of Vivienne Cameron website Stewart if you want to check it out. And you will be able to do so for free. The website will be live tomorrow.

The last thing I want is to have 5 different apps for podcasts. I'm not downloading Spotify just so I can listen to your podcasts, as much as I enjoy them. Other producers (NPR, Wondery, etc) still understand podcasts and allow us to pay for them and still use our own podcast app so I can have 1 place for all podcasts. (Overcast for me.) I'm disappointed you've got in to bed with Spotify who have a history of underpaying artists for music, and are now locked in a battle with Gimlet staff for underpaying them too.
