The wintery conditions that had clouded the region months earlier had since dissipated, replaced by warmer weather and greener scenery. The area where the female human remains were found was relatively unknown to tourists. Its dense woodland and grassy meadows were split by a rushing stream. The granite summits of Yosemite Valley were visible in the distance.

Absolutely blows my mind that Cary Stayner is Stephen Stayner’s brother. What tragically exceptional events for the family to go through. First in the news as a child depicted as a loving older brother happy to have his younger brother back after being held by a child abducter/ sex offender for a year. Then when he’s older he’s in the news as a serial killer… wtf!
