What is the podcast that the lady who works for you recommend? I remember her saying Something Knows Something was good- I already finished that one... so good. Does anyone remember what else she recommended?

Nancy Franco

Than why is he sniffing around jimmy the jet???

Adam Murphy

On the mend now thanks Adam. Freddy is my all time favourite. I have faith!

Casefile True Crime

Casey how are ya mate?! Are you confident that Freddy can field a half decent Origin team?

Adam Murphy

Hi Aliiya, no plans at the moment, but yes we would consider it!

Casefile True Crime

Would you consider making a Jack The Ripper series?

Aliiya

Thank you for the perspective - appreciated!

Lee Madden

Hi Addison, Id always had interest in various cases ever since I was younger. It was more so I wasn't a daily true crime consumer, it more came in waves. But when I was deep into a case - I went really deep. WM3, the Sydney underworld of the late 70's and 80's, Manson, to name a few. The most rewarding thing is working with such a talented and hard working group of people and having such a fantastic and dedicated audience.

Casefile True Crime

Nice one, you really sounded knowledgeable. You should try it someday, very relaxing.

Anna Chan

Hi Brandy, it's more gut feel then anything else. It's hard to explain. There is no set criteria and no checklist. Essentially, we just know. Always trust your gut as they say!

Casefile True Crime

Hi Joy, sorry I don't know anything about it. I'm completely out of the loop. I very rarely venture onto social media. So I don't hear about anything. I just focus on casefile and making the show the best I can.

Casefile True Crime

Hi Jan, I can't say I ever have, no.

Casefile True Crime

Thank you Tracy. I haven't but if the opportunity ever came up I would definitely consider.

Casefile True Crime

Hi Grant, we haven't. But Im just having a look at it now and I have added it to our list! Hello Ryan and Jalissa.

Casefile True Crime

Hi Jason, you can't go wrong with either. Both are really good. I would also highly recommend reading his books in order start to finish. You don't have too, they all stand alone. But there are things that cross reference between books along the way that you can pick up on.

Casefile True Crime

Hi Liv. Yes taking breaks is important. Personally exercise is the biggest thing for me. It's the favourite thing to clear my mind. Ive also recently gotten into yoga and meditation to balance things out. It's really important to take breaks and look after yourself.

Casefile True Crime

Hi Alice. Really love the great ocean road in Australia. Tasmania is a great spot. Overseas, I loved pretty much everywhere in Europe. Was a big fan of Alaska and Canada as well.

Casefile True Crime

Hi Bernadette. No that's not something we have really considered.

Casefile True Crime

Thank you Leah Much appreciated.

Casefile True Crime

Hi George, no not in the cases we've covered.

Casefile True Crime

I wouldn't say there is a common theme. There is just so much at play. From the quality/experience/competency of the investigative team, to the technology available at the time, to whether or not there were witnesses, or evidence left behind, CCTV footage, phone or digital evidence, and so many other things as well. Those were just a few examples. Each case is so unique.

Casefile True Crime

Thank you Iain much appreciated. The Jill Dando case is one we could possibly cover in the future.

Casefile True Crime

Hi Brent. No tattoos. Favourite refused song is New Noise.

Casefile True Crime

Thank you Jen. Much appreciated. We will do more multi part series in the future. But there are none coming up in the immediate future.

Casefile True Crime

Hi Cheyanne I am not. But batman was my favourite when I was younger.

Casefile True Crime

Hi Lucy, we probably won't do a series. But we never say never, so maybe one day.

Casefile True Crime

Hopefully!

Casefile True Crime

Hi Kim, we are always coming across things like that. Cases are rarely straight forward, there are always curve balls and different issues going on and factors at play. Each case is definitely unique. And we already consider ourselves armchair sleuths :)

Casefile True Crime

Hi Lee. I bought a portable sound proof booth to record in. It's not a recording studio as such. No fancy equipment. It all runs through my laptop.

Casefile True Crime

Really love the great ocean road in Australia. Tasmania is a great spot. Overseas, I loved pretty much everywhere in Europe. Was a big fan of Alaska and Canada as well.

Casefile True Crime

Hi Maggie, most definitely not!

Casefile True Crime

Hi Anna, I have never scuba dived in my life. Will put that down to the good research.

Casefile True Crime

Hi Michael, no we haven't.

Casefile True Crime

Hi Ryan. Linoleum for sure. I also have to mention The Decline, Please play this song on the radio and lyrically, I think Oxy-Moron is right up there as well.

Casefile True Crime

Hi Liam. Sports star or rock star. Original I know!

Casefile True Crime

Hi Andrew. cappuccino, no sugar is my favourite. Thank you very much.

Casefile True Crime

Hi Alex, one that comes to mind is probably the West Memphis 3. Not sure we'd ever cover it though.

Casefile True Crime

Hi Ashley. I'd say most of them haunt me.

Casefile True Crime

Hi Noelle. Yes there are a few. However I can't really name them!

Casefile True Crime

Hi Lisa. Yes! Email host@casefilepodcast.com

Casefile True Crime

Next weekend, but Bonus Tier should get the early release in the next few days.

Casefile True Crime

Hey, sorry this is not AMA related but can you tell me when the next episode is out for release?

Jacqui leonard

Damn. You beat me to it.

Rhys Halliwell

What part of making the podcast is most rewarding? What made you decide to make this your full time job? I think I read in an article that you weren’t really a fan of true crime before you (anonymous host) started the podcast. Love the show, I’ve been listening for a long time and I’ve loved watching it grow into what it is now!

Addison Walker

Is there anything in particular that you all look for when considering a case to cover on Casefile? As an American, I really enjoy hearing about the Aussie cases and others from around the globe. I love hearing all of the cases and diving deep into research on all of them after listening. I am just wondering what, if anything, sets a case apart for the Casefile team to consider it for an episode. Thanks!

B-randy D

You may have already been asked, but tell me about your thoughts on Sword and Scale host Mike Boudet’s recent and sudden departure from hosting his podcast. Do you think the campaign against him was silly? Or do you think podcasters should be liable to being pushed out if a group disagrees with their style? It’s not a trick question, no right or wrong answer really. I’m just curious your opinion! Keep up the magic!

Joy Whitmore

Just curious.....while standing in the grocery line, movie line, etc.....do you ever wonder if the person in front of you or the one behind you is a psychopath? A pedophile? A murderer? Are you ever weary of the ones around you????

Jan LeBlanc

Sort of loosely based on a previous question, i have had a debilitating illness for the past two years so really loving the podcast it helps so thank you. Just wondered, hav you ever considered doing voiceover work for guided meditation?

Tracy

Have you thought of doing Ben McDaniel as a case? Also, Ryan and Jalissa say hi.

Grant Rutherford

Good day, everyone! Im more of a true crime/non-fiction reader and I've finally decided to venture into more of the crime-fiction genre. I know Casey has a love of Michael Connelly, so, what book do you suggest I start with? From the limited selection my local book store had, "The Black Box" looks like a ton of fun, but so does "Blood Work". Whatcha got for me?? :-) Much love to everyone and thank you all for what you do. <3 <3

Jason Colombo

Thank you for a very well written, produced and narrated podcast; it all blends together so eloquently. How does exploring the darkest sides of human behavior affect you and your team? Do you develop a certain distance or numbness after a while, or do you need to pause, to escape from these images and stories? I guess I’m asking; what do you do to keep yourself from burning out?

Liv Sorli

Favourite holiday location?

Alrose

Did you ever think of adding dramatization into your podcast model?

Bernadette

How did y'all get so awesome!? Thank you for putting out the very best podcast!

Leah Budd

Hi team, With victim families often willing to try absolutely anything to find their loved ones, has the team ever researched a case where clairvoyance was a help rather than a hindrance. Love the pod and keep up the great work! George, Ireland.

George T

Given youve worked on over 100 cases, what do you see as being the common themes that lead to a case being successfully solved vs those that remain unsolved.

Lee Madden

Thank you for all the hard work you do. It really is appreciated. Is the Jill Dando case on your radar? I feel it would be a perfect fit for you

Iain Strachan

Specifically for Casey, but anyone else can answer; Do you have tattoos? Also, what is your favourite Refused song?

Brent Ahuriri

I love love multi cases! Will there be more soon? Just want to say thanks so very much for all the hard work you all do. Casey- I suffer from depression/anxiety and the sound of that voice really does soothe me. It calms me. Just want to say thank you for all you do! Best podcast! My baby- it’s this podcast that got me into all this!!

Jen Tysick

Are you a Marvel fan? Or DC? Preference? If so who is your favorite superhero and/or villain?

Cheyanne

There’s been a lot of Ted Bundy material surfacing on Netflix lately. Ever considered a Ted Bundy series?

Lucy Dietrich

The only thing I can think is that he was dealing with his own issues (mask flooding or something) and didn't realise what serious trouble she was in. But I don't think he ever claimed that...

Anna Chan

Yes! It just doesn't make sense how he'd let his wife sink like that. He'd done his advanced and rescue, start of the dive so he had a full tank. Why didn't he descend and get her, even if he couldn't save her life? Its not like she sank to bottomless depths - it was only 30m if I remember correctly. You don't just watch someone sink and do nothing, especially not your husband/wife!

Anna Chan

Will you ever do a multi part series on the Melbourne underworld war?

Yeahnargdaymatehowyagarn

Not Casey, but I listened to that episode once, and then got my diving ticket, then listened to it again. Oh man I think he is guilty as hell, and he mostly got away with it! Argh!

Peak Charcoal

Are there any cases that, in the course of your research, you find something unexpected that makes you think differently about the case or the accused? Does the research side of things make you want to become an armchair sleuth?

Kim Gaetjens

Hey Casey. What has it taken for you to set up a recording studio and roughly what has is cost to set up? Thanks. Lee

Lee Abbott

What are some of your favorite vacation spots?

Geoffrey Beaulac

We’re you a professional athlete in your pre-podcast life?

Maggie Pajak

Casey do you scuba dive and if so where is your favourite place you've been? I'm asking because you sounded like you knew what you were talking about on the Tina Watson episode (but that could just be your good research/writing!)

Anna Chan

Have you ever been approached by a major media organisation to do something for them or to acquire you? Do you hope to be?

Michael

What is Casey's favourite NOFX song and why is it Linoleum? :)

Peak Charcoal

What was the hosts dream job as a child

Liam

How do y'all take your coffee? Really I just want to say thanks for the hundreds of hours of storytelling you guys have crafted. I cannot imagine the research involved, but I bet you find some cool stuff along the way.

AJ

Are there any cases out there that fascinate you the most that you don’t actually ever intend to cover in the podcast?

Alex

Are there any cases you've covered that particularly haunt you?

Grape Job

Have there been any crimes in your local community (where you grew up or currently live) that you want to cover?

Noelle Frost

Would it be possible to submit a sample script?

Mockingbird Nation
