The Runes Serie - GEBO (DIVINE)

Runes are ancient Scandinavian letters and symbols used in the past by Nordic peoples as a writing system, but they also had a symbolic and magical meaning. It is believed that runes date back to approximately the 2nd century AD and were initially used by the ancient Germans as a tool for communication and recording.

The history of runes is rich in myths and legends. According to Norse mythology, runes were discovered by Odin, the father of the Norse gods, who obtained them after spending nine days hanging from the world tree, Yggdrasil. During this period of self-sacrifice, he received a vision of runes, learning their meanings and magical power.

Runes were used in various practices, including divination, healing, protection, and enchantment. Their names were often used as inscriptions or engraved on objects such as stones, armor, or household tools to confer them with particular qualities or powers.

Runes were divided into three groups called Aetts. Each Aett consisted of eight runes with distinct names and meanings. The names of the 24 runes divided into the three Aetts are listed below:

First Aett (Fehu, Uruz, Thurisaz, Ansuz, Raidho, Kenaz, Gebo, Wunjo)

2. Uruz: symbol of strength and primal energy.

3. Thurisaz: symbol of destructive force or defensive power.

4. Ansuz: symbol of divine spirit and communication.

10. Nauthiz: represents necessity, resistance, and overcoming difficulties.

11. Isa: symbol of stagnation, rigidity, or cold.

12. Jera: represents harvest, the cycle of time, and fertility.

13. Eihwaz: symbol of resilience, death, and rebirth.

14. Perthro: symbol of fate, hidden potentials, and mystery.

15. Algiz: symbol of protection, defense, and spiritual connection.

16. Sowilo: symbol of the Sun, victory, and success.

Third Aett (Tiwaz, Berkana, Ehwaz, Mannaz, Laguz, Ingwaz, Dagaz, Othala)

17. Tiwaz: represents honor, courage, and justice.
