GrowthRPG V0.6.3

Changelog

Gamelink

Small update this month, mainly fixes and polish. All of the inventory items should be fixed along with the menu working a lot better, if you see some that are still broken please tell me. Some combat animations and the walk cycles have been fixed. Loading screen will now only go away when it is finished loading. The combat UI should now update correctly along with being a bit more efficient. A bug was fixed in combat that halved all physical damage as well as decreasing the amount that NPCs will grow with high ego bets.

I believe the reason why it felt like no weapons were scaling is because any physical damage was halved. I played the game myself and wasn't able to encounter anything like that, but please report it if you do along with how to recreate it.

I figured it out, will be fixed in the hotfix

Thank you this will help me a lot. If I don't fix this in the hotfix Wednesday I will make it a goal to have it finished by the next update.

Here's a step by step of everything I did from a fresh file. Basically, after the first couple bush encounters, the fights become impossible. The only times I can win are when I cheese by constantly backpedaling and buffing, the AI breaks and just stands there, or the AI continuously buffs instead of just deleting me. 1. Level 0 (2 2 10 2 4) 2. Curl to 28 3. Enter dungeon 4. Kill normal mobs to 5th floor 5. Put on any armor earned (leggings breastplate) 6. Level 29 (5 5 20 4 15) Ego: 62/62 7. Save 8. Buff to size 25 9. Squat to 30 10. Go fight bush spawns outside town. 11. Fight Thighwayman, I do 5 damage, he does 4 damage. Win. Ego: 102/102 12. Fight Banfit, I do 4, he does 4. Win. Ego: 142/142 13, Fight Lardzerker, I do 3, he does 5. Loss. Ego: 132/132 14. Fight Chestromancer, I do 3, he does 7. Win. Ego: 172/172 15, Fight Chestromancer, I do 2, he does 7. Win. Ego 212/212 16. Fight Lardzerker, I do 2, he does 12. Win by backpedalling and size explosion. Even at 375 extra size, I still only do 6. Victory. Ego 252/252 17. Level 49 (5 5 30 4 25) Ego: 252/252 18. Used an essence of Size 19. Squat to 30 20. Fight Bigbarian. I do 2, he does 5. Win. Ego: 292/292 21. Fight Bigbarian. I do 2, he does 5. Loss. Ego: 0/282 22. Fight Chestromancer. I do 2, he does 6. Win. Ego: 120/322 23. Fight Lardzerker. I do 2, he does 10. Loss. Ego: 0/312 24. Level 54 (5 5 35 4 25) Ego: 0/312 25. Curl to 28 26. Buy Blesser, upgrade to level 5. 27. Fight Lardzerker. I do 2, he does 8. Use Flex to grow 60 more muscle, still only do 3. Loss. Ego: 0/302 28. Fight Lardzerker. Same as above. Loss. Ego: 0/292 29. Fight Bigbarian. I do 2, he does 5. Same as above. Win. Ego: 120/332 30. Fight Thighwayman. I do 2, he does ~20. Loss. Ego: 0/322 31. Fight Lardzerker. I do 2, he does 10. Loss. Ego: 0/312 32. Stomp on bandit in field. 3 xp 33. Fight dock worker. I do 2, he does 16. Loss. Ego: 0/302 34. Fight Kreek. I do 2, she does 32. Loss. Ego: 0/292 35. Fight Bone Master in field. I do 2, it does 1. Win. Ego: 120/332 35. Fight Large Slime in field. "I don't think I will." as option. I do 2, it does 4. Loss. Ego: 0/322

noted. I tried fixing that but I guess made it worse, originally they couldn't hit anything

People have mentioned, I am still trying to figure out exactly what is happening. I have fixed quite a few issues surrounding it, but I have been informed about the issue and I am trying to fix it and it is high piority. The problem is theres quite a few things that go into damage calculation. Its been kind of difficult for me to replicate on my own, so being detailed certainly does help. Is it mainly from enemies that are triggered from bushes or are you talking about the enemies on the overworld? Also is there something you can do to consistently get it to appear? Like if you fight the field enemies will the first always be fine then each one after gets way too hard?

DigitalFurBelow

I guess my question is, why does winning make me feel weaker? The first enemy I fight in the field is easy, and I do like 7 damage per hit, the very next one I fight is impossible and suddenly I'm taking twice as much damage and doing like 2 damage a hit. I get wanting to make a game with actual mechanics, but at the end of the day I just want to stomp nerds, and get bigger while doing it.

Maybe I am missing something, but the core gameplay loop seems horribly busted in the last few releases. I haven't said anything because it felt like such a massive oversight that it wasn't worth mentioning, but I guess I will. A new run for me basically looks like this: I go into the sewer dungeon and fight mobs down there until Im stomping on them instead of fighting them. I then go out into the field and fight a bush encounter. My ego gets some absurd boost from like 3, to somewhere in the hundreds, and from there all engagements seems nearly impossible to beat, with me doing like 2 damage and taking like 8-10 (with like 40 max health). Having my current ego go down to 0 doesn't seems to effect the difficulty at all, leaving me in a place where I stomp dungeon enemies, and field enemies are too difficult to beat without buffs, and if I do buff to beat them, it proceeds to make them even more difficult, making the problem worse.

I always thought he appeared on level 3 for some reason, guess I'm wrong there. But the rat summons with either boss don't seem to be functioning though. They're not causing softlocks with the fight as I guess they aren't being counted as enemies, but they do kinda just stand there not doing anything, and they don't die if inflicted damage.

the giant rat only appears on level 5 I believe

DigitalFurBelow

Just cause I don't think I'm seeing this mentioned, whenever I'm exploring the sewer dungeon, I can't find the Giant Rat boss, it's always just the Unusually Large Rat instead. Additionally, I don't think summoned enemies are working anymore (Raving Fans seem to work, but in the Sewer Dungeon, I'm seeing the Rat summons not operating at all. They sit there, basically immortal, but it doesn't stop you from killing the actual boss).
