Garage Update! - All the space in the world
Added 2023-03-05 20:49:58 +0000 UTCThe next big milestone for the garage renovation has been hit! The rafter ties were limiting the amount of usable vertical space, so I completely nixed them and added a super huge LVL beam running across the ridge!
The newly added collar ties are almost 4 feet higher than where the rafter ties were, leaving the total usable height to just over 11 feet! That might actually be the same amount of height I had in the big red barn, but either way, there's actually room to throw a motorcycle on the moveable workbench I built and wheel it around, and of course room to install a car lift!
There's still a few more little things to take care of before I'm done filming the next episode, but this is such a huge improvement to the space already! I'm honestly so excited :)

I do hope you wound up putting a GFCI into that breaker panel. Typical breakers don't protect against ground faults, and those are the ones where the metal shell of a machine could zap you dead. The house's main panel also isn't protecting you against ground faults, since you ran that separate ground spike.
