Moving into 2018 we continue or exploration of Alice's Asylum years. Omri sends along the cover image above which I quite love. And he's provided us with a final image of Angelbaby as Alice...
I sent this image to her husband last week and will give them a little time to digest the concept before poking them again. Meanwhile, I have an idea based on "who is Alice" for the film version which I'd like to share.
Follow THIS LINK and let us know who YOU think should play Alice when/if a feature film is ever made. We can then ask Omri to create a series of photo manipulations around these suggestions and use those images to drive interest and awareness in all we're doing here. Feel free to share that link in places where you know Alice fans congregate. We'll select the top (3? 5? 10?) suggestions and create a gallery. Should be interesting!
Meanwhile Joey's created a final render of an image we shared in the last update...
And I think this might be a good one for the next art print we send to Patrons. What do you think? Which image would you like to see printed and mailed?
Speaking of prints... I'll need to process prints for December and January in the coming weeks - so don't fret if your December print is a little slow in arriving. That'll get done now that I'm back from holiday saiing ;)
Same goes for the Chaos necklaces. The manufacturers tell us to expect delivery of those on January 5th. Once in hand we can pack everything up and send to backers - expect a ~20 day delivery time once they're sent out. Yan's found some beautiful bags and boxes which those will ship in. The whole offering is looking really great!

I like the idea of Alice exploring a dreamlike London memory and think Joey's done a good job of capturing the mood and feel.
For the 2nd image... it's a bit "disco" for me. I think this is one of those times where Joey's lack of exposure to Western culture might result in her unintentional re-creating of colors and themes which trigger in our (Western) minds ideas related to history/culture which feel a bit jarring in the supposed context of Wonderland. That being said, I think it's a great bit of art - and would captures a distinct 70's vibe.
I expect we'll see a main image/logo treatment from Sonny pretty soon. Really looking forward to that.

Well, congratulations, because you just spread t`he meme virus of "white women loving BBC" to the shores of China, Wonderland, and Israel. I had to Google this nonsense and I feel dumber for what I've read. You've read into this pre-production artwork for a game set in *Wonderland* - based on the imagination of a young British girl from 1865 - something completely out of place, time, and context. Even if I were to share your sense of ... offence? ... at what's been rendered, it's not going to help to try to remove it or make a stink about it. That'll just fan the flames higher. Christopher Hitchens said something about people running out of things to be offended about in their own lives so they start looking over fences into other people's back yards... This is kinda like dragging another person's back yard into our pre-production! Let's just let it be. Thanks.

However, I wanted to jump in and give a few thoughts based on your post here. The image from Omri is incredible. In fact, I can almost see it as a full blown poster with some sort of lighting / glitter effect. The feel is dark, and that little smile on her face makes me think Alice is quite happy in her illusions. The Angelbaby image is -epic-! That dress, omg, want. I also contributed my ideas for who might work as Alice. In the end, it may even be worth looking at some unknowns as well, though I totally understand the desire to have large names with large audiences. Sometimes individuals no one has seen before can better reflect a character as no one has any connotations applied to the actor in question. Joey is making my whimper as I want all the images, and while I can see your thoughts about that last image being a bit disco, it actually makes me think back on when I was growing up and used blocks of different colours to mix things up. Granted I grew up in the US, though I now live in the UK. So, it's possible there may be a bit of a mix up, but I do like the kaleidoscopic feel to it. As for the merchandise and posters and things, I have had time to think, and reflect on the tier rewards. In my previous post I was a bit hesitant to go up from 50 to 75, but to be blunt, the artwork I am seeing come out has totally sold me. I will happily give up some of my other vices to go 75 if that becomes the top tier. Sadly 100 is still a bit too precious for me. Either way, I'm sorry to miss the stream today, but know that I am thinking of you all and that I am still insanely impressed by what you're looking at doing. :D I'm also insanely excited for the Out of the Woods competition. I have no art skills at all, so as I whip out MS paint (muahaha) expect to see me enter something slightly .. wacky. :D Plus, I am so excited that the Playmat/scarves are done. I picked that up ion the final part of the Kickstarter and I know exactly where I am going to put everything once they arrive. And take the time you need to get that all done. I know how you feel about quality and I have complete trust in you all. <3 Now to climb into my sick bed. Welcome back (and sorry you have to suffer the cold).

As Alice would not really be smiling in her burning house with her family dying. The final image of Angelababy as Alice looks really good too. As for the actress to play Alice, I think it is appropriate to have someone who can do a British accent or a British actress. Or maybe we can have Martin do the voiceover, since he is British. I really like the final renders by Joey, especially the London and balloon tree images. As for the "disco" image, I thing the reason why it might feel a little too disco, is because of the lights from the mushroom. The disco ball at the top shining lights down, and the mushroom is kind of like the disco ball. Also you have yet to fix the rewards for the patrons, so what are you going to do for the $50 tier for November and December? They will have nothing for those two months. You better merge the tiers now or it will get even more complicated as we are entering the 4th month of Patreon support.

I'm in love with the refined image. It really just makes me want to know more about the story! Would it ever be possible to sell some of the prints individually?
