Genuine Question

Is there a single soul on the planet....who watches Seth Meyers? I really wanna know his numbers. I wanna know a lot of the numbers of these "mainstream" shows. XD I know it's likely me being mean and cynical but...it's just very strange. The lack of awareness on the major networks these days.

Comments

I'm going to watch Seth and Dua Lipa Go Day Drinking. I don't know much about this man except that he is a television host. Have never seen any of his talk shows, interviews in fully. Only some fragments here and there in the distant past so I really can't say much about him.

Oskitello

You're certainly right. It's so strange to watch. Makes me so concerned for humans. And yet...when you step outside all this bullshit...you realize most are cool. Most are reasonable. Don't let these people turn us against eachother. At least...that's how I try and look at it. So we have different opinions...so fucking what??? That makes it more interesting, does it not?

I couldnt disagree more. Kimmel has lost it the most of them. He's the one who always had the least talent. He used to be offensive in ways that amused me. But now he's essentially just Seth Rogan (look up Rogan's twitter meltdown after his woke xmas HBO show tanked if you don't know what I'm referring to). He used to say things that would provoke in a silly mid 2000s type of way. Just like Rogan. But now him, Rogan, and Howard Stern have gone so far up the woke ass that they make people like Colbert and Meyers seem almost normal by comparison. I dont think Kimmel retains any of his dudeness. He's a sad middle aged suburban cynical dad who got too rich, got a personal trainer, got too many famous friends, and now is way in over his head to be talking about these issues he has no clue about. They all are but, Kimmel is one of the least equipped. And yet...he leans right into it, as if it was his calling to be a political thinker all along. I actually have respect for Jimmy Fallon, unlike most. His show is stupid but...it's very marketable for what it is. At least he stays in his lane. At least he knows what he is. He isnt trying to be some social justice warrior because it's not who he is. He isnt feeding into the toxic political machine the way his contemporaries choose to. He just wants to play ping pong with his guests and get the clicks. He wants people to like him, and he has never lied about that. And...what's wrong with that? It's vapid af and stupid...but I'd take that any day over a cynical Kimmel, who has gone on record as saying he wants to weed out all of his conservative audience, even if it means losing his show...because he feels it is his personal duty to speak about the pressing issues in this country. Wow...what a hero. As if there was ever a risk of losing Kimmel, so long as the elites are in charge. Seems almost like he forgot that this is a stupid comedy show, and nothing more. Conan always says his job as a talk show host is "the art of time waisting."....Conan has a good head on his shoulders. He understands how silly this all is, and he can step outside himself, unlike these clowns. It's the brazenness that really gets to me with these other people. Kimmel wants to be an intellectual, and it only makes him look dumber. The Man Show was when he knew what it meant to stay in his lane more. He was an overweight Italian American schlub having fun poking at the system back in the day, like a kid throwing spitballs. Today...he wouldnt even open a door for a woman, because he is afraid he'd offend the feminists by doing so. He has better presence for sure than a Seth Meyers. But his gross cynicism, and the things he's said outside of his show...I found to be really disgusting. And it feeds right into the show. As in...I didnt have to hear those outside comments to get his general attitude. "I'm fucking Matt Damon" was a completely different time. Again...mid 2000s. There is almost nothing recognizable of Kimmel in that these days. It's not as bad as Howard Stern delusion but...it's very very very close. I just think...Conan is brilliant, Seth had SNL writing background at least but far less of a compelling persona than a Kimmel, Colbert used to be a brilliant satirist...Kimmel is the guy who came in the back door. It should be what he respresents and he should be embracing that and being brilliant at it, and yet, he's trying to be so the opposite because he thinks he deserves it, in a way that suits him the least of all the mainstream american tv hosts. Ah yes...Miriams masturbation tree story. She helped him out. XD.....Will.i.am's face during that whole exchange is spectacular, and their unlikely chemistry, a real treat.

I saw that one. I love Bill Burr, how irritable he is, how he gives the hosts shit when he’s being interviewed. Kimmel doesn’t bother me as much as the other hosts. Fallon is annoying, and Colbert and Meyers have disappeared up their own asses with their smug liberal superiority, but Kimmel still retains a little bit of his dudeness. You can still see a trace of the guy who started off on The Man Show. He may have sold out somewhat to political pandering, especially after his genuinely heartfelt reaction to the Las Vegas massacre a few years ago got him tagged by the media as “America’s Conscience”, but I still think he keeps that old sense of humor that he had back in the “I’m Fucking Matt Damon” days. I love Miriam Margolyes. Only she can describe giving a handjob to a pervert in a tree as a noble act of charity. Everyone’s so shocked and disgusted when she finishes that story. It’s fucking hilarious.

Also I know they're movie execs but if Bob Iger or David Zaslav are any indication, major networks are likely beyond clueless in terms of whats popular today. They just get data indicating the youth nowadays is more politically/socially conscious and decide to brand themselves accordingly without much though to it.

Stephen

Conan was the greatest American talk show host ever. He gets it though...he just does a podcast these days. Letterman while I dont think is on Conan's level...his bite and cynicism for the system, and hollywood, made his interviews very unsettling in a fantastic way

Deepfocuslens

yep, you're right. Those are the ones that are the safe bets, who will say what the networks want them to say. The real comedians with actual fans: the chapelles, the Tim Dillons, Theo Vons, Shane Gillis, etc......they dont have huge platforms on tv cause it would never be allowed. But...everyone clearly knows where to find them. Who is a fan of any of the people you just named? I can't name a single person who says something like "you know that Amy Schumer? She's quite a talented comedian" XD XD XD

Deepfocuslens

Bill Burr was on Kimmel recently actually as well. He called out Jimmy and was like "you people can't stop talking about Trump." Called the liberals idiots. Said that Trump left a long time ago, and they keep bringing him back with indictments and all this stuff. Kimmel was completely deer in the headlights confused. He was like "whaaaaa? ME...an idiot??? Impossible!" Clearly thinking that Trump is truly this evil, and he is doing the lords work by bringing him down on his show. Now...either Jimmy truly believes this, and he's as dumb as he appears. Or...he is just saying what the network wants him to say. I'm really not sure with him, what is brainwashing, and what is him just conforming knowingly. Graham Norton is a genius. Miriam Margolyes is his greatest guest of all time. I have every interview she ever gave on Graham Norton memorized. I need that woman in my life so baaad.

The Game of Thrones skit and the one he did with Anna Wintour were the only things I found remotely funny. Wintour did a great job playing herself, as well as making fun of herself. And Seth leaned right into his persona on that skit as the beta male symbol, submitting to Anna. So at least he can recognize it and make fun of it. Though...it's not something I'd personally be proud of, or want to play up if I was him ><. Right now I'm actually watching all of these shows ironically on youtube. Colbert, Kimmel, etc.. Just the monologues. Cause Trump is looking like the republican nominee more and more, which I find hilarious. And the big elite tv shows are getting super melodramatic and upset all over again and they learned absolutely NOTHING from the last time. Pathetic. And so...good riddance. the hysteria is just all hyperbolic nonsense and its like watching a bunch of chickens run around with their head chopped off year after year. I think they deserve Trump. Trump is Heath Ledger's joker getting punched over and over in the interrogation room, saying "you have nothing! nothing to threaten me with. Nothing to do with all your strength," and the anarchist symbol while bleak, is also interesting to probe, and liberating too. Most are too afraid to admit that but...it's an honest emotion to have, when you feel the institutions do not listen to you. Trump even broke Matt Stone and Trey Parker. Which....now that's pretty amazing. Their Trump south park season in 2016 fell apart. as a satire. I give everyone a pass if you were deeply upset in 2016. I was one of them. But by this point, if you are still this terrified of Trump....you need to examine yourself. It's fine to hate him. He is not someone we should want in the oval office, absolutely not. But I do think we deserve him, on the other hand, if these are our choices. But to act like he's gonna destroy us all...good lord. The way they are trying so hard to create this antagonist out of him, that keeps their shows on the air...is part of why I find it so funny. They desperately need him to keep their ratings, and yet they pretend they don't want him as a nominee. And so...yeah, it's pure comedy at their expense from my end. The world is south park, and I'm just along for the ride. Unless they figure out how to stop the vicious cycle, I have fun watching it all burn. Norm MacDonald said it best "If you really wanna be funny...then you think what would make Seth Meyers laugh. That's how I live my life." What kills me about that line is right after, the interviewer asks him "what do you think of his show?" Norm goes "of what show?" XD XD XD Trollllling. And then when the interviewer clarifies "what do you think of the Seth Meyers show" and then Norm instantly responds "it's not something I would do." God....the great ones never get the spotlight. Only the mediocre ones who dont ruffle feathers. But the irony is that the liberal television hosts here think they are the progressive ones still. smh

lol you can get as political as you want. It's incredibly difficult to offend me. All I ask is that people are respectful on here of others opinions, and so far that is rarely a problem with you guys. What you are saying I 100% agree with.

Deepfocuslens

I believe he is likely a better comedy writer than host. But...even on SNL, I think he served best behind the scenes. There's really nothing he offers that stands out as a presence. He was hand picked by the elites as the safest choice to feed the liberal media machine.

Deepfocuslens

Graham is next level. Love him, but in the british sense of being a great interviewer, and having fun on the couch with a glass of wine with your guests. I'd rather watch Jimmy Fallon over Meyers. At least Jimmy is less pointedly political and stays in his lane. Seth is political, but without the comprehension to understand why, like pretty much everyone with a show on the mainstream television. Hence what you say...youtube, podcasts, everything online...this is where you are gonna get in touch with things.

Deepfocuslens

And I think you echo the rest of Americas sentiments XD

Deepfocuslens

he has that quality lol

Deepfocuslens

I have nothing against him as a human being. Seems like a lovely man outside of work but...this is show business. I think he's an embarrassment quite frankly as a host. Norm MacDonald said it best about Seth.

Deepfocuslens

Never watched. There are some comedians I’ve seen and I’m perplexed that they’ve made it as far as they did. Amy Schumer, James Corden, Jimmy Kimmel, etc.

Ken

I’ve seen a couple of skits that he’s done in the show, the ones where he invites Game of Thrones characters to dinner parties. Those were amusing. By far the best segment I’ve seen on his show is when Larry David came on and acted as a personal Larry David to various members of his staff. https://youtu.be/tNOKXlv8-bY?si=bf_XCTi6SqbGvKdd Other than that, I don’t really watch him or anyone else. The late night talk show is a tired format, undone by lazy, repetitive writing. I can only listen to so many Trump jokes. Occasionally I’ll watch a Kimmel interview if he’s got a good guest on, like Bill Burr or Clooney. But other than that…nothing really. I’ll take Graham Norton over American talk shows anytime. At its best, it’s like dropping in on a cocktail party, with a whole of engaging looseness amongst A-list guests that you wouldn’t see anywhere else. And Graham himself is a very witty, sharp host—very quick with a funny line to inject into the conversation. It makes me want to go watch Miriam Margolyes, who is, hands down, his greatest guest. She has absolutely no filter, nothing about her private life that she’s unwilling to disclose. Which, hilariously, shocks the hell out of her fellow guests, especially the American ones who aren’t used to such explicit candor. I can’t decide which guest reaction is funnier, Stanley Tucci or Matthew Perry. Neither of them can believe what they’ve just heard.

Bennett Oliver

Not to get too political (like the late night shows have become with the exception of maybe Jimmy Fallon), but Meyers, Kimmel, and Colbert are just shills for the progressive left. They do what their puppet masters tell them to do. And by puppet masters, I mean the government who infiltrate their shows. Same as the legacy media. If you’re unfamiliar, I recommend looking into Operation Mockingbird. This is no tin foil hat stuff. This is real and scary stuff and explains a whole heckuva lot about the way things are portrayed in TV and movies and have been for over 50 years.

TenzingNorgay82

I used to be into his Closer Look vids back during Covid but I haven’t really checked him in years. His episodes of Documentary Now are so fucking funny though. I’m sure he could write a great comedy screenplay if he wanted to.

Dan

While I dont watch him regularly, I have *looks both ways* enjoyed his show in the past. Definitely not top tier like Graham Norton but I'd watch him over Jimmy Fallon or James Corden. Too be honest the late night model is pretty much dead at this point. Podcasts rule the day now.

Stephen

All I know about him is that he exists. Couldn't care any less.

Wolfman Brandon

Can't say I've seen any late night shows since Conan left. I would watch him and sometimes Letterman, but nothing since.

Shaeffer Holt

I forgot about him lol

swift minus one

Out of all the late night show hosts, I think he’s pretty level headed and likable. But oh my god he’s completely boring lol. I like some of his interviews but there’s no way I’d watch an entire show in one sitting
