2023-11-25 07:09:05 +0000 UTCWow that sounds incredible. We are the same. We didnt do turkey, and often dont. We did a mexican meal this year. Steak with guajillo sauce, avocado relish, mangos salsa, rice, black bean soup, cranberry palomas, etc..

2023-11-25 07:07:24 +0000 UTCPoint Blank was something else for sure! Existential cynicism at its finest. A worldview of chaos, cacophony, and soul sickness in a cold universe. And I really admire Boorman for experimenting to this degree so early in his career -- good for him! Can't say I'd watch it many times, but I had a smile on my face for its artistic gall.

2023-11-24 22:37:06 +0000 UTCMy fam never does turkey, instead we like to rotate meats every year, so i did baby back ribs with homemade sauce and rub, and sautéed baby bockchoy. my brother made mashed potatoes topped with the fried potato skins. my dad made mac and cheese. We also enjoyed the 49ers win over the seahawks and are about to watch the new episodes of Fargo. Hope all of you had a day that was just as dope as mine :)

2023-11-23 04:00:36 +0000 UTCHome to New York for Christmas, but Thanksgiving will be quiet time and staying in. Catching up on work, reading, and maybe a few movies as well. I've been going through the John Boorman movies and still have a few left to see.

2023-11-22 18:04:01 +0000 UTCI’ll be going to two Friendsgivings on thanksgiving day. It’ll be interesting because the first one is with friends of the family who are professional chefs, and the second is with my close friends who are hosting but have never cooked a Thankgsgiving meal before lol. (I plan on bringing at least a couple of sides) Fortunately I’ll also be busy working on a bunch of art commissions for Christmas (kind of freaking out to be honest because this is the first time I’ve ever had a strict deadline)

2023-11-21 12:25:30 +0000 UTCMy family is the same way. Whenever we watch an old movie, my grandparents will try to guess the prices and brands of the clothes and props in the background. And I’m like, “Grandma, we can put on Antiques Roadshow if you want?” Lmao

2023-11-21 12:17:32 +0000 UTClol...my grandmother was the same. It could be a goddamn holocaust movie, and she will blurt out whatever she feels like, as if the movie isnt on at all.

2023-11-21 02:29:03 +0000 UTCWell, I’m having Thanksgiving with my mom and sister. We’re having Cornish hens instead of turkey this year, which is fine because stuffing is still going to be served. Then, unfortunately, I suppose I’m going to have to sit through the newest season of The Crown, which they will no doubt have watched beforehand, but not together, so they’ll need to put it on and discuss it. Love my mom and sister, but they are the worst to watch anything with. They don’t quiet down and give it their attention; they talk while it serves as background noise. Best to have something on that I’ve either seen before or don’t care about.

2023-11-21 01:43:44 +0000 UTCJust a standard Thanksgiving for me which is fine since its my favorite holiday. Family, food and most importantly... football!

2023-11-21 01:38:02 +0000 UTCHaving the usual family Thanksgiving dinner with my parents and sister. In other news, I finally found a job or more like a series of short term positions. After registering for an organization that helps find educational positions in schools, I'm taking substitute paraprofessional positions for K-12 schools. Just had last week working at a school helping students with Rain Man level autism. Best job I ever worked because it was my first time in a non corporate environment and it payed better, too. Believe me, working with low functioning autism kids and young adults was way easier than working with customers in retail. Coincidentally, my middle school homeroom teacher was working there and we caught up after around 15 years since I was in his class. Kinda bummed it only lasted one week. Next week, I'll be working at the preschool I went to over 25 years ago.
