Don't be a one-trick pony

Morning!  I thought i'd share this to hopefully inspire some of you.

With photography I think it's easy to get stuck in a rut where all photos start to look the same.  Yes it's important to develop a personal style but also I think it's good to get out your comfort zone so to keep learning and improving.  (For me that's trying to edit colour photos!)

First, for quite a while i've been shooting my portraits back lit (without lights and often without mods).  I bought a new lighting setup (i'll do a post soon) to change that.  That will allow me to give more models more perfect lighting.

Second, I love B&W.  It's just easy.  RAW + MrLeica preset, job done to the most part.  I'm not great at editing and i'm terrible at editing colour shots.  The problem is some clients will ask you to shoot in colour.. or maybe you just feel inspired to shoot colour.  Either way you then need to have the skills to be able to shoot in colour (for me) in addition to my go-to B&W style.

Yesterday's model had a nice skin tone, bright clothes and colourful tatoos so I did almost the entire shoot in colour.  Although the images don't really go with my usual B&W work sometimes it can result in attracting new clients as many people want colour photos.  Me having a B&W IG page turns off many girls that only post colour images.

Have a great Easter weekend!
