It bugs me a bit, this idea of teaching modern medical knowledge. His knowledge was hard-won, and the culmination of centuries of evolution in the scientific method. While teaching the body of knowledge is important, and will revolutionize medicine, it is not sustainable, unless the philosophy of science is also inculcated into the Japanese. Otherwise, his teaching will become a kind of sacred dogma, and Japanese medicine, however boosted by Jin, will inevitably stagnate and fall behind the scientific approach that is growing in the West.

If he keeps working towards his goal of teaching modern-day medical knowledge to the people in late-Edo period, Japan will most likely end up being the birthplace of modern medicine. It's also possible that he will rewrite the Japanese, or even the world's political history by treating some important figure that was supposed to die or have some defect. If it's possible for him to cause a time paradox by messing around in the past, he's quite lucky to not have done that already, since he has already treated a few important people. Maybe it isn't that easy to cause a time paradox in the manga's universe, huh. One last thought. Even if changing the political history of Japan a little or more (by treating a few of important figures in the history or such) isn't something that will make him not exist in the future easily, by changing the history of medicine so much, even if the future him exists, he might not choose to be a doctor anymore, since the modern day medicine will be very different from before. Thus, the modern day Jin won't meet the fetus god :) causing the time-travelling Jin to stop existing.

I think this is the first time that Minakata failed a surgery so far. While I'm sad to see Ohatsu pass away, I think this is perfect from a literary perspective. In the end, despite his knowledge from the future, Minakata is still just a normal man. I feel like this experience will definitely help strengthen him in the future
