Dave blinked, and the world changed.
One moment he was at home, microwaving leftover curry. The next, he was standing barefoot in a concrete arena the size of a football field, surrounded by ninety-nine other confused, frightened men.
No announcements. No explanation.
Just skyless gray walls stretching up forever and a silence so heavy it buzzed.
Some were in suits. Some in pajamas. A few held phones mid-text. All shared the same question behind wide eyes: Why the hell am I here?
Then Dave saw it.
Across the arena, a steel door creaked open. A low growl echoed. Out stepped the gorilla.
Not a zoo monkey. Not cartoon big. This thing was wrong—a mountain of muscle, nearly black with rage, its breath steaming, its chest rising like bellows.
It looked at the crowd. Trapped. Angry.
It charged.
"RUN!" Dave screamed, too late.
The beast closed the distance like a truck in freefall. Dave barely turned before a forearm—not even a punch—collided with his side.
His spine cracked like a branch. He flew and smashed against the far wall. The pain was instant. Then nothing.
He couldn’t move. Couldn't even scream.
Just eyes. Eyes wide open. Watching.
The arena exploded into chaos. Screams. Footsteps. Blood.
The gorilla didn’t hunt. It executed.
One man had a chair. It splintered against the beast’s shoulder. He was grabbed mid-swing, skull crushed like fruit.
Another tried to climb the wall. His foot was caught, and the gorilla used him like a whip—into the ground, into others. Bone snapped like wet wood.
Time lost meaning. Minutes? Hours?
Bodies lay twisted. Guts painted the concrete. The beast’s roars echoed against the walls, met only by silence and red.
At last, it stopped.
The gorilla stood over the last man—Dave—breathing hard, arms slick and red up to the elbows. Its knuckles dragged. Its eyes burned.
It walked slowly now.
Dave couldn’t look away. Couldn’t plead. Couldn’t run.
The gorilla crouched, face inches from his, and just stared.
No rage.
Just decision.
Then it reached out and tore Dave’s throat out like peeling fruit.
Everything went black.
