Tuesday Showcase #5: Chapter 19

Before giving you a preview of version 0.9, I'd like to address the state of the game.
As most of you have noticed, the rewrite of the Messages system didn't completely remove the soft-lock issues.
Basically, most of these issues are due to the game code being initially made for a 2 hours game built in three days. Its success made me extend it, but it created a lot of spaghetti code resulting in its state today.
For version 0.9, I'm rewriting the main game loop, in order to know exactly what's happening every frame. This will either remove soft-locks, or allow me to know EXACTLY what's causing them.
The bad news is that this work won't allow me to write three new chapters for version 0.9. I'm aiming for two new chapters for this version, and will try to catch back with version 0.10.
That being said, here's a small preview of Chapter 19, summarized in a single picture:

I had a question for Le Stag. I extracted all the images from the last version and, to my surprise, discovered a number of great Ashley images I had not seen. That made me curious: are those previews that just havent been added yet to the story, or random event images i have not encountered? As always, the art was absolutely top notch!

Just in the time you have to spend updating the game to account for it all the time perhaps you could even have been working on chapter 20 by now. I'm interested in what the in-game explanation will be for the need for the sound-text app. While it's essential for the game's sake, it would seem that a phone call would be a much more simple solution on the part of the characters. Maybe the benefit of the app could be that it allows the main character to not need to actively listen in real time, such as if he's at work, and read what happened after the fact as well as have it available to re-read later like when Laura returns home? If nothing else, I suppose the ridiculousness of such an app could make for a humorous 4th wall breaking joke.
