July-August '23 Incoming Update

Hi everyone!

Long time no see, but I assure you I have some interesting content coming up. I meant to post a progress report sometime last month but I kept trying to add more to the game before posting about it, and time ended up slipping away from me. So now you have a game update to look forward to quite soon, either today or tomorrow in fact!

The update will feature boy1, or as he'll now be called: Shaun. There will be 3 missions for him, just as Chrys had on her release, and in addition there will be 2 new missions for Chrys herself.

Aside from the new character, I've also finished adding working versions of the shop and configuration menus. The shop menu will be indicated by a new icon on the main menu screen. Here is where you will spend the Performance Points you earn through successful job completion to acquire things that will enhance your gameplay experience or add additional customization options. I have several ideas on what will be offered in the shop eventually, though at the moment it's stocked with only a single item I used to test the shop system. The list naturally isn't finalized, and I'll be open to adding more categories as more ideas come to me, but I think the ones I decided on so far provide a good point to expand from. I plan on adding more available items gradually through updates as I add more characters and other features.

The configuration system/menu is basically what it says on the tin, and exists to configure options related to gameplay. These options will include wallpapers, themes, costumes for characters, implements, and various other robot components. Conceptually the menu is simple in its purpose, but it'll be an important part of the game going forward so I'm glad I got it finished this early on.

I also wanted to inform everyone that I plan on making this a paid update, so all patrons will be charged for the amount they've pledged once I release it. It'll be the result of ~2 months of work, which is slower than I'd prefer but faster than I've made significant updates in the past as well.

After this next update, I'll need to consider what I'll work on for the next update, as there are a few directions I can take in terms of development and new content to add. I'm also considering doing a temporary switch to developing SQII again, but it will take more thought before I've decided, and I'd want to make sure a good chunk of patrons would be interested in that.
