12/26/17 and Happy Holidays

Happy Holidays! 

And merry post-Christmas. Naturally, I don't have much to report on with the new game since I'm away with family and don't have my computer or any of my game files and software with me on my current laptop. To compensate for this lack of tools, I've dedicated the free time I would have had to work on my game to instead do extensive planning and brainstorming for content to come, so that when I do return to my lair I'll have everything planned out and can go right into the work. 

One of these topics for brainstorming is the degrees of variation with random texts. I'm making note of what attributes of the scene vary, and which will apply to each scenario. If I have the time I'll be able to write some lines for exporting into the game when I get back too.

The other topic I've been brainstorming on is the organization of events and quests in the game. I've been thinking of ways to divide up the unique aspects of each location, and I think I have a good formula. Each location will obviously have one main quest, which will be an intricate puzzle across the whole town. Each location will have 3 or 4 side quests dedicated to that location, which will involve several decisions, have unique outcomes and consequences, and rewards. In addition, there will be many other events, which are shorter, unique interactions with one or more characters that usually won't span more than one or two rooms, and will have only one or few outcomes. I think this will be a good way to structure things from here on out. Only quests and sidequests will probably be shown in the quest log, since they'll be more complicated than simple events.

Aside from that, I've also been messing around with Construct 2, a free game development platform which simplifies game making (like rpgmaker) I'd say it's more complicated, since you can make more than just rpg's, pretty much any 2D game style is possible. I've been testing some methods of making a rhythm game involving spanking. Something I feel the community has coveted ever since guitar hero and motion controls existed. It will obviously be more of a side project compared to this, but it would be an interesting thing if it ever saw a public release.
