Just before he was about to ask her if there was a problem, the old ticket taker handed the ticket back at long last. “Your movie is in Theatre 3.”
Logan took eagerly, trying not to seem too rude or impatient. He gave her a nod and began to turn when she continued, “We have gifts for those seeing Zootopia before you go.”
That halted Logan in his place. Turning back to her, she motioned to a box beside her. It was the first time he noticed the cardboard on the stool beside her podium. “Help yourself to whatever you want. Only one per customer though.”
He looked inside. There were a bunch of headbands. There were only two kinds: gray ones with bunny ears and red ones with fox ears. It didn't take a wiz to understand what they were given the movie.
Logan smiled. Nick and Judy ears, eh? It was an odd choice of merchandise for a movie, but perhaps Disney was saving the good stuff for when the sequel came out while the rerelease got something on the cheap side of things.
Still, there was no way he was going to complain. He happily took the fox ears out. There was a tag on it that read, “Nick Wilde”. That was painfully obvious to him. He loved that sly, con artist turned hero from Zootopia, and it wasn't merely because he was a fox either.
With the headband in hand, Logan hurried on through the lobby. He almost wished he could stop at the concession stand to grab something to eat, but the line was pretty long and time was certainly short now. He had to keep dashing to get there in time before the film rolled.
A minute or two later, Logan hurried through the auditorium doors. The room was mostly packed from top to bottom. The only space available was the very front row, which is where his seat lay. It was hard to believe there were so many presales for a decade old film.
Regardless of his questionable seating, he was still happy to see the film. He headed down and took his seat. Before relaxing, he took a look back at the crowd. Everyone looked just as eager and excited to see the flick like him.
He couldn't help but also notice that most, if not all, of the crowd had their own headbands, whether wearing them or just putting them on.
Well, when in Rome or however that saying went… Logan faced forward, giving his a quick look before placing it on. He made sure it was nice and snug, not pulling on any hairs or was too uncomfortable. It thankfully fitted just right, as if it was made for his head.
Once in place, he finally relaxed. He leaned back into his seat, letting his shoulders droop and body sink. He hit a button on the right armrest, reclining the seat as far back as he could. He certainly didn't want to be straining his neck trying to watch this.
Logan looked up and soaked in the preshow commercials as they rolled by, the one playing now for some new kind of car he couldn't afford. He smiled to himself, swaying a little from side to side. He just loved Zootopia, so eager to watch it again on the big screen! Such a fun movie with great characters, mystery, animation, and-
Yaaaaaaawwwwwwnnnn! Logan stretched his arms and legs, his lower jaw stretching and popping. His head suddenly felt so heavy and warm. A wave of drowsiness had just come on out of nowhere!
Weird… He yawned again, smaller this time. Where did that come from? Wasn't tired a second ago. He rubbed his eyes with the back of his hands. Wasn't up that late working on that paper… work and school finally getting to me?
Logan huffed, blinking his eyes several times. I'm not letting this ruin my movie.
As he sat there in his comfy chair, that relaxing, drowsy dulled the senses in his mind and body. The young man never noticed a thing.
The ears on his headband twitched. It was sudden and slight, barely noticeable even if he wasn't tired. Then, they twitched again, wiggling and jerking more about.
