Ch: 29 [Brewing trouble]
Added 2023-06-27 18:13:09 +0000 UTCAfter placing their food order at Enchanting Brews, Jack and Mr. Karl discuss the delivery arrangements. Mr. Karl kindly offers to deliver the order directly to the orphanage, knowing Mrs. Hilda. This gesture ensures that the children at the orphanage will receive the food without any hassle.
After that, Jack, Sara, and Jax decided to buy new clothes, books, stationery, and clothes for everyone at the orphanage. They also bought new gym equipment for Mike.
With the shopping done, they finally left Diagon Alley.
As Jax apparates them just outside the orphanage's gate, they approach the gate and ring the bell, eagerly waiting for someone to answer.
The sound of the bell echoes through the quiet surroundings of the orphanage as Jack, Sara, and Jax wait expectantly at the gate. Moments later, the door swings open, revealing Mrs. Hilda.
"We are back," Jack said.
"Right on time, the food you ordered has arrived and everyone is so lively," she said with a warm smile as they walked in, "So, how was your adventure at the Diagon Alley?"
"It was an incredible adventure," Jack replied, a sense of excitement evident in his voice. "We visited Diagon Alley and got everything we needed for Hogwarts."
Sara chimed in, her eyes sparkling with enthusiasm. "We bought new clothes, books, stationery, and even some special treats for everyone here. We also got new gym equipment for Mike. And look, Jack bought me an Owl. Now we can exchange letters when he is at Hogwarts."
Mrs. Hilda's eyes widened with delight as she took in the news. "Oh, how wonderful! It sounds like you had quite the memorable trip to Diagon Alley. And the gifts you bought... I think it would be best to keep those in my office and surprise them after the dinner."
Jack nodded in agreement. "That's a great idea, Mrs. Hilda. We wanted it to be a surprise for everyone."
After unloading everything from his infinity bag, they all headed to the dining hall, where everyone was celebrating. Jax as usual has disappeared and went back to his cozy attic.
"Jack," Mrs. Hilda lightly touched his head, "Thank you for caring."
...
The night party at the orphanage was filled with joy, laughter, and gratitude. The children eagerly gathered in the dining hall, their eyes widening with excitement as they saw the bountiful spread of delicious food that had been delivered by Mr. Karl. The aroma of the freshly prepared dishes filled the air, making everyone's mouths water.
Mrs. Hilda informed the kids that they have received a big donation from a good person who wishes to stay anonymous. She couldn't let them know about magic.
Jack swiftly delivered Jax's dinner without anyone's notice.
Sara somehow managed to keep the secret of magic and Diagon Alley to herself.
The two Owls became the center of attention, perched on Jack and Sara's shoulders, attracting curious glances from the children. They were intrigued by the idea of receiving letters through the magical means of owl post.
As the children began to eat, Jack couldn't help but feel a sense of contentment. Seeing their smiles and hearing their laughter made all the efforts worthwhile. He was glad that he had taken the initiative to plan the trip to Diagon Alley and involve his friends in the act of kindness.
Throughout the evening, played games and had conversations. They listened to stories, shared their own experiences, and formed deeper connections among themselves. The orphans were grateful for the gifts they had received from that unknown person.
The night was filled with gratitude and warmth, as everyone felt a sense of belonging and togetherness. It was a reminder that acts of kindness, no matter how small, could make a significant impact on the lives of others.
As the night drew to a close, Mrs. Hilda gathered the children together to distribute the new clothes, books, stationery, and special treats that Jack, Sara, and Jax had bought for them. The children's eyes lit up with excitement as they received their gifts one by one. They eagerly tried on their new clothes, flipped through the pages of their new books, and admired the colorful stationery.
Mike was overjoyed when he received the new gym equipment. He couldn't wait to start using it and improve his strength and agility. Jack offered to help him set it up and he immediately started weightlifting.
Everyone was happy.
Jack was happy too. Even though no one knew that it was Jack who bought everything, he felt a sense of fulfillment and satisfaction in his heart. It didn't matter to him that his act of kindness went unnoticed by the children. What mattered was that he had made a difference in their lives and brought smiles to their faces.
Finally, as the night drew close, everyone went to their rooms with their new items, a smile on their lips, and happiness in their heart.
Sara was fast asleep with her Mr. Panda. But she made sure to make a temporary place for her Owly to sleep. Obviously, with Jax's help.
Jax was also tired after the busy day. He was fast asleep in his hidden corner.
As Jack entered his room, he couldn't help but reflect on the events of the day. The adventure to Diagon Alley had turned into something far more meaningful than he had anticipated. He had not only experienced the wonders of the magical world but had also learned the joy of giving and making a positive impact on others.
Before retiring for the night, Jack took a moment to talk with his new owl friend.
"Now, what shall I call you?" Jack asked.
The owl, sitting on his lap, of course, didn't answer. His round eyes glistened in the dim light of the room, seemingly contemplating its new name. Jack thought for a moment and then smiled, realizing what the perfect name would be.
"I think I'll call you 'Shadow,'" Jack said softly. "You're like a silent companion, delivering messages and bringing a little bit of magic into our lives."
Shadow hooted softly, as if acknowledging its new name. Jack gently stroked its feathers, feeling a deep connection with this mystical creature. He knew that their bond would only grow stronger as time went on.
With a sense of contentment, Jack bid Shadow goodnight and carefully placed it on a perch near his bed. As he settled down under the cozy blankets, he couldn't help but feel a profound sense of gratitude for the events that had unfolded.

[Mrs. Hilda's room]
Mrs. Hilda held the moving picture of David and Sarah in her hands, a wistful expression on her face. She gazed at the image, lost in memories of her dear friends.
As she looked at the happy couple captured in the picture, her eyes welled up with tears. She missed them dearly and wished they were here to witness the remarkable young man their son had become. Jack had inherited their kind-heartedness and unwavering determination to make a difference in the world.
Speaking softly, as if addressing David and Sarah directly, Mrs. Hilda said, "Both of you would be so proud of Jack. He has grown into a remarkable young man, full of compassion and bravery. Today, he brought so much joy to these children's lives."
Mrs. Hilda's voice trembled with emotion as she continued, "But, I must admit, I am also afraid. Jack's gentle nature and his willingness to help others can be easily exploited by those with malicious intentions. I worry that there may be people out there who would take advantage of his kindness."
As Mrs. Hilda voiced her concerns, a sudden change in the weather caught her attention. The clear sky that had graced the day was now being overtaken by dark clouds, and rain started pouring down heavily.
A sense of unease washed over her as she peered out through the window. The raindrops pelted against the glass, creating an eerie backdrop to her worries. She couldn't shake off the feeling that something unsettling was about to unfold.
As the thunder rumbled in the distance, she pulled out her wand from under her pillow and dimmed the light. She slowly left her room and made her way to the main hall, from where she could keep an eye on all the rooms. She pulled a chair and sat on it.
Her eyes darted back and forth, scanning the corridors and listening intently for any unusual sounds. The atmosphere in the orphanage had shifted, and Mrs. Hilda's instincts told her that trouble was brewing.
A shadow manifested near the main door, before her.
"Where's the girl?" A malevolent voice hissed from the shadow. Mrs. Hilda's heart skipped a beat as she recognized the voice. It was a voice she had hoped never to hear again.
Fear gripped Mrs. Hilda, but she managed to keep her composure. She knew she had to protect the children at all costs. Gathering her courage, she spoke firmly, "I know who you are. You have no business here. Leave immediately."
The shadow chuckled darkly, its form shifting and writhing in the dimly lit room. "Ah, Mrs. Hilda, always the defender of these little pests, aren't you? But I have unfinished business with that girl. Hand her over, and I might spare the rest."
Mrs. Hilda's mind raced, trying to come up with a plan. She knew she couldn't let this villain harm the children or get his hands on Sara. She had to find a way to stall him until help arrived.
Summoning her inner strength, Mrs. Hilda stood tall and faced the shadow. "You will never lay a finger on any of these children. I will protect them with my life."
The shadow let out a cold, humorless laugh. "You a pure-blooded witch, going to defend that filthy mudblood? Don't make me laugh!"
