Added 2019-07-10 21:37:14 +0000 UTCThe laptop has been at a repair shop since Friday, and we just got the status: the mobo has a HOLE in it (what) and the repairs will cost several hundreds.
We're not sure what we're gonna do yet and it's not clear if replacing the mobo will fix all the performance issues. Most likely we'll fix it and it'll probably be in shape in a week, at least I hope so...
It's killing me to not be able to work at all right now. Only so much entertainment Netflix and YouTube can provide me... *withers* I'm watching blender related tutorials sometimes since that's at least something, and I was inspired by some 3D movies so it's not all bad.
I hope this situation resolves soon and well. I hate being in a rut so soon after trying to kick off a more active chapter of this Patreon. Wish me luck!

We'll be fine! I'm splitting the costs with my gf and we're getting a second opinion to see if it's really worth that much money. But thank you for the thought :)

Like a new pledge level to help you fund the repairs, maybe something with future rewards for those who do choose that pledge to help. (not really sure if that works, just giving a suggestion based on what I've seen some other people do when they need extra funds)

2019-07-11 09:35:03 +0000 UTCSeveral hundred sounds like a scam to me. There's no repair on a computer that legitimately costs several hundred USD unless you have a several hundred dollar video card that burns out and that's just plug in a new one.
