Unexpected Render Issues

I've ran into a problem that I'm attempting to work around right now. Basically the motion blur feature in the render engine is INCREDIBLY heavy and increases my render times by crazy amounts. Somehow this never came up before because, as soon as I started using the feature, the animations I was making at the time were so light that it didn't make an impact.
But now after figuring out for several days why on earth certain frames take 30 minutes to render out of nowhere instead of 3, I'm looking for an alternative motion blur, and have found one. But learning how to properly implement this into the animation adds some more delays.
This has been pretty upsetting and a major headache, since the lack of motion blur looks very odd and I just can't deal with how it appears - I made a test render without it and it looked like claymation. The alternative will not look as good as the main component, since it's less based on the real scene geometry. It isn't "FAKE" motion blur that you could add with after effects etc, but somewhere in between.
Hopefully it turns out good!
