September Release Third Preview: King Ulric of Thrym-Heim!

Good evening guys! 👋🏻

Today we can finally show you the last big miniature coming this September 2022 to Highlands Miniatures: our first dwarf hero miniature, King Ulric of Thrym-Heim and the his two shieldbearers! 🪓🪓

Let's talk a bit about this hero miniature.. 

We have had a hard time designing this miniature as we couldn't find a style and overall look that appealed to us. We had one important idea in mind: this miniature is going to be painted professionally and we want to find clear shapes, elements and details so it leaves the artist some room to create, to play and to put different techniques in practice, like NMM, leather and cloth, glazing for skin colours... 

At the end we came up with this design, with a nice balance between detailed areas like the shoulderpad or the kneepads, and some clear areas like the cape, the skin or the leg armour. 

The very same goes for the shieldbearers. At the beginning we though about making them with armours and in the same line as the dwarf kingguard already showcased, but we really wanted to show the anatomy of these dwarfs to represent the dynamism and muscular efforts of carrying a heavy armoured dwarf with your arms. Also, it creates a nice balance from a painting perspective, between the more metal coloured hero miniature and the predominant skin colours for these shieldbearers. 

This big miniature will come split in some pieces so it can be painted and assembled properly. 

About the King Ulric

… King Ulric of Thrym-Heim, also known as the king of the Silver Mountain, received by his people between tears, prayers and applauses, always appears mounted on an ancient dwarf shield, forged in gold, being carried by two of his faithful servants. 

With a dominant gaze and a glorious bust, he is one of the most powerful kings for the dwarfs. His wisdom and experience in battle is known to all and the songs and legends about him cross horizons and realms. 

A king who has never been defeated, 

a king to die for with honor, 

a king who guides and protects... 

The September 2022 Release is around the corner guys and will be composed of:
